Windows Vista isn’t the most loved OS by Microsoft by any means, partly because many software’s and games that ran happily in Windows XP are subjected to crashes and other problems when executed in Vista. Most games and software’s after some patches and other tweaks. To run programs having compatibility issues in Vista, one can simply turn on the compatibility Mode. Most of the programs that had issues with Vista are able to run after switching to the original OS settings should run in most cases. To run any program or game in compatibility mode, just right click on the program you wanna run and select Properties. You should see in the properties window a tab named Compatibility. You should find a check box against “Run this Program in compatibility mode for” from where you should then select the Operating system the program was designed for. Click apply and now your program would work in Vista with compatibility but its a kinda finding a needle in the dark because it may work or not work depending how aged the program is.Also a good idea would be disable the visual themes and desktop composition, if you can’t get things working. You may also need to choose “Run this program as an administrator” if you are running a video game. Try with different settings your program will work somehow.

Most programs run properly on Windows XP. The exceptions are some older games and other programs that were written specifically for an earlier version of Windows. These programs may run poorly or not at all after you first upgrade to Windows XP. You may have heard this referred to as application compatibility issues or program compatibility issues. In most cases, Windows XP allows you to get these programs working again, using a feature called Program Compatibility Mode. Program Other programs that may not run properly on Windows XP include specialized drivers that are incompatible with Windows XP. Only an update from the manufacturer can resolve incompatible driver problems.
