Can I add mods with the demo of Quake?

I downloaded the demo of Quake 3 Arena and I also download the mods Bid For Power. The problem is I do not know how it is to play with the mods. I watch some tutorial said that it was smith Quake 3 Arena and then go into the menu mods but I do not have the menu "mods" in the game so I did not know how to include the mod.

I downloaded openarena ok but when I run I met:
Could not load default.cfg
I also find the mods Bid For Power, which operates without quake 3, I download but after the extraction he asks me a password .

For the "Could not load default.cfg" it may be that you extract all in a single file through a rudimentary software or executable that is not the proper place.
