Far Cry 2 release date confirmed

Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 2 will be released for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on 24th October.

In addition to the usual game-in-a-DVD-case shenanigans, the publisher has also teamed up with GAME to distribute a special Collector's Edition version.

This will include a t-shirt, an art book, a fold-out map (the press release says "Collector 50 square kilometre map", which may not be literal), and a making-of DVD. What's more, it comes in a wooden box. Wood is excellent.

Ubisoft Montreal's first-person shooter sequel has already won plaudits for keeping up the original game's fine graphical tradition - despite development switching to Montreal from original studio Crytek, who buzzed off to make Crysis for EA.

Far Cry 2 plunges players into a massive, 50-kilometre square chunk of Africa where it's important to make friends and influence/shoot people in order to survive.

In addition to the usual single-player campaign and multiplayer, Ubisoft Montreal has produced an impressive map editor (all formats), which allows you to craft huge levels to insane degrees of detail in just a second minutes.

At present, Far Cry 2 is probably one of the games of action for the most subjective expected. On the one hand, players are wondering if PC Ubisoft will be able to compete with the best studios in a genre that really does for a while now and the other players Playstation 3 / Xbox 360 question the quality of a game first developed with the PC in mind.

The answer should, however, delay the title since Ubisoft due out on October 23 next in our latitudes. Until that date, the publisher continues to dampen new catch today by putting emphasis on two things: first the graphic quality of the PC version and, secondly, the editor levels very special to be shipped with the console versions.

Far Cry 2 due out on October 24 next PC, but also for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. In the meantime, Ubisoft which talk about this game through a video more successful than previous years. In fact, it was the staging is more successful with a sequence of presentation of various non-player characters inspired by Guy Ritchie of Snatch ... The sequence is so effective it makes you want to know more, but do not worry, it happens!
