PSP-3000 compatible with DualShock, 160GB PS3 not backwards compatible, PSP 3000 will be able to play games with PS3 controller

The Best Buy insider has today tipped maxconsole that the 160GB PS3 will not be backwasrds compatible with PS2 games, so you'd better snap up the Metal Gear systems as its likely they will be the last version to play PS2 games. Again, this should treated as a rumor until more proof surfaces or it is confirmed.

Insider says PSP 3000 will be able to play games with PS3 controller

A Best Buy insider has tipped off to say that the new PSP 3000's will include the ability to play games on the PSP using a PS3 controller. And you will also be to use composite cables (480i) to play games on the TV instead of requiring a component 480p. This should be treated as a rumor until confirmed.

Maxconsole has word from a Best Buy insider that the PSP-3000 is compatible with DualShock controllers. That’s an interesting rumor, isn’t it? Furthermore, the same insider says that the 160GB PS3 won’t be compatible with PS2 games, so snag a MGS4 bundle while you can.

The PSP-3000 is set to launch next Tuesday, but someone jumped the gun. The PSP-3000 Ratchet & Clank Entertainment Pack has made it’s way into at least one Best Buy early, where some lucky guy snatched it up and took this mug shot.

New PSP, new problems. The recently released PSP-3000 does get rid of the PSP-2000's ghosting issues, but has issues all its own: On the official PlayStation forums, PSP-3000 owners are bringing word that the new PlayStation Portable suffers from scanlines and icky interlacing defects during video playback and gaming. One forum member writes, "I am not happy about my 'upgrade'." In an official statement, Sony says this is no accident. According to Sony:

On some occasions, scan lines may appear on scenes where brightness changes drastically, due to the hardware features of the new LCD device on PSP-3000. Installed with this new LCD device, PSP-3000 offers more natural and vibrant colors on its screen, but the scan lines have come out to be more visible as a result of improving response time to alleviate the afterimages on PSP-3000. Since this is due to hardware specification, there are no plans for a system software update concerning this issue.
Why update it with a software update when they can fix these issues with hardware update. PSP-4000 here we come!
