| Windows 98SE Product Keys
I've just downloaded a copy of Windows 98SE from the Internet and I'm in the middle of Windows 98SE Setup where you have to enter a Product key. Are there any websites where I can find a Windows 98SE Product Key? |

I recommend that you report the site where you found Windows 98SE to piracy@microsoft.com There's no legitimate site for downloading a product key for any version of Windows. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see. I just bought the Windows 98SE (Upgrade) CD off of Amazon for $45 plus shipping to replace my original CD that I some how damaged. No big deal. I have to believe the guy can afford to shell out $50. I wrote a small disk directory indexing program for the TRS80 Mdl I/III/IV back around 1980 and distributed it in some of the club meetings with the only request that if the user liked the program please send $2 to my POBox. Various notices were placed in the code with test code to replace and notices changed or deleted. I never received a dime but when attending a meeting in one of the local colleges I found a copy that someone had taken the time to dig out all the replicating code and was offering free to anyone who wanted it. Since the tests were fragmented in many locations I know someone spent a lot of time trying to dig them all out. Attitudes haven't changed just the technology. His type will be with us forever ... sigh. James |

If Macro$haft doesn't have the good sense to allow people to buy their friggin products then they lose nothing when someone asks for a product key for win-98. Buying a product key on e-bay means nothing. It's no more legit than finding one on the net. Read the EULA. According to the EULA for win-98, you must transfer the hardware along with the original CD and product-key sticker for the transfer of the license to be legit. |

Of course there is but no-one on a MS newsgroup is likely to help you find it. | Re: Windows 98SE Product Keys
Now with the program being 8 years old I wouldn't know why not, just think of the discarded programs in that time, there should be lots of keys available now, they have been paid for and all you protect is ten year old technology, that will never some back again. I suggest to do a google search and see how far you can get. I think it's great that someone gets to know the wonder world of Win98SE where you can actually install something, instead of giving all rights to Windows Vista and hope that it is done in a way you would approve of. [rant]Not everyone is happy with the constant control of Billy and his gang and the complexity of the computers nowadays or should I call them entertainment centres.[\rant] Sorry guys, but I just discovered that all my games are played back to the Ubisoft server, without me knowing it! You gotta love Vista! On August 12, Steve Winograd incorrectly stated: > There's no legitimate site for downloading a product key for any > version of Windows. Several others then stated that it was unlikely that anyone would post a useful answer. But on August 15, I posted this: > http://www.angelfire.com/weird2/hyak...ft_serialz.pdf > http://www.psico.univ.trieste.it/pub...8_serials.html > http://lolekserwer.friko.pl/LOLEK/NS/SN.txt > > For product keys for other MS products, do individual google > searches for these: > > DDTPV , KRJQ8 , F3VWH , M4676 , BW6BT , TQWT9 , K2WR7 The above links are still functional. Three months after the original post, someone called "tiffany" mysteriously reposted the original Eric Ng message without adding any new content. Then, "pjp" responded to the "tiffany" post by falsely stating: > Of course there is but no-one on a MS newsgroup is likely to > help you find it. Well, pjp, not only did I post an answer back in August (4 days after Eric asked his question), and not only have I reposted my answer here, I will post some keys right here, right now: F73HC-XYXR3-R34GV-B4F9M-XWTR8 P8M8D-X9F2M-37GPT-MKTMV-VVX8T VTXBY-99K94-9C6CW-Q2FR4-8Q4VQ BCM7H-BH7XW-JQC9R-Y3GDB-26B93 KXX9H-QVH8V-RP4VR-2XQ9X-VW2JH So pjp, you might want to think the next time you stick your foot in your mouth and post a response to a 3-month-old usenet post. |
