Sorry, Western Digital was not very helpful in their email reply -- probably computer generated. I am happy with my two Western Digital drives as well so you may want to consider them as well but this was the first time I ever emailed them so I do not know if they have good support but fortunately it has not been needed at least in my case. <smile> -- Dan W. I, too, had trouble with those, Dan. Can't remember off hand how I fixed it, but when I get back to that machine tonight or tomorrow I'll see what I can see. -- Gary S. A user in the Vista general newsgroups said that the XP drivers work for the Sound Blaster Audigy and that is what I am going to try when Microsoft releases the new build and/or RC2. BTW, is your build of Vista --- 5728 as well and did you start testing at the 5600 level as well? -- Dan W. Computer User |

RC1 5600. I first saw Vista in its *very* early days, but then I broke my machine and the only ones I had to use can't handle Vista, no where near. My beta participation lapsed into dormancy and I haven't bothered to revive it. Not sure if I can get anything newer than 5600 from MSDN now. Haven't looked to see. -- Gary S. If newbies don't understand the acronyms, they can ask or Google them, <s>. Please(!) Dan, make this a permanent change. Continually repeating the parenthetical long-hand defeats the purpose of using acronyms. Take it from me, as tiring as it is for you to do that, it's just as tiring to the well-versed reader <s>. -- Gary S. At most, when you introduce a phrase for which there is an acronym, you do it once (ther first time you mention it) and then only use the acronym throughout the rest of the communication, as follows: I suggest you learn to use BootIt NG (BING) to partition your hard drives and manage your multi-boot system. BING is easy to use and relatively inexpensive, with only a few caveats to learn before installing your system(s). To get BING, go to www.bootitng.com. There are also a few excellent support forums at that BING site. I know you wouldn't normally use it that many times in such a short space. You'd use pronouns instead, but I was providing an example only. -- Gary S.
