Here, we attempt to produce three-dimensional models in style "cartoon", a modus operandi that may prove helpful for creating stylized set of icons.
Create an image of a traffic light in cartoon style
Starting from the default Blender cube, we see how to create a model of a traffic light. First, enable the Edge button and set the parameter Eint = 50. Then select the default cube and go to the Material Buttons sub-context. Material panel button "Shadeless" and set a yellow color for the material (R = 0.7, G = 0.7, B = 0.0). It is then possible, from the Links and Pipeline panel, name the material: it can be called "traffic light". To create the traffic light, we insert a UVsphere (Add> Mesh> UVsphere) and set SetSmooth Editing panel (F9).
You then need to assign a material (which can be given the name "Green") to the sphere. It is important to activate the button and set a Shadeless green (R = 0.0, G = 0.8, B = 0.0). Possibly changing view, then using the S and G keys, you can scale and move the ball to put it, in part, within the previous cube.
To create the protective part, which is located above the traffic lights in the light, we can insert a cylinder (in frontal view, Add> Mesh> Cylinder), assign the material "traffic light" created earlier and in Edit Mode, deleting unnecessary vertices to obtain the desired shape. Finally, you can scale and translate the light above.
