Have you tried to restore your phone to factory settings - defaults?
You must have done something with the security settings of your phone.

Thanks for your suggestions.

No, not as yet. I was hoping someone would be able to shed some light on it for me, but if not I will have to do that. Be interesting to know what has caused it.
