Tips to install JELLYBLAST V3.0.4 on Samsung Galaxy Y (GT-S5360)

JELLYBLAST V3.0.4 is a custom rom for Samsung Galaxy Y (GT-S5360) users. It makes Galaxy Y much better compared to the stock OS. It adds many new features like Jelly Bean theme, Jelly Bean status bar and notification panel, Jelly Bean Digital Clock, analogue clock, Search Bar, keyboard and many more things.

However, I am not going in details about all its features. Interested people can follow below tips for installing JELLYBLAST V3.0.4 in their Samsung Galaxy Y (GT-S5360).

Note - You will have to root your phone for installing JELLYBLAST V3.0.4. In case you haven’t rooted your phone then you can follow below steps for the same. Below steps are for Galaxy Y (GT-S5360) only so please don’t try it on some other phone.

    Rooting Samsung Galaxy Y (GT-S5360):
    • First download required Update.zip, transfer it in to your SD Card (Make sure that you are not moving it in to any folder), turn off your phone and boot in to recovery mode (Press Vol Up + Power Key + Home button together for booting in to recovery mode)
    • You will have to use volume keys for scrolling & home button for selection as touch screen will be disabled in recovery mode
    • Once you have booted in to recovery mode, select apply update for sdcard and select update.zip which you have transferred in your phone.
    • When you get a message saying “Installation form sdcard complete” message then select “reboot now”
    • This time your phone might take about 5 minutes to restart. Once your phone restart’s check for an application Superuser and open the same.
    • Now Go into Menu > Preferences > SU Binaries, SU Binaries will start updating and once it gets updated you just have to restart your phone and you are done. Just makes sure that you are not deleting Superuser otherwise you will lose the root.

    Unrooting Samsung Galaxy Y (GT-S5360):

In case you want to Unroot your phone then you can follow the same steps mentioned above. You just have to download Update-unroot.zip, transfer it into your phone and select update-unroot.zip where you had selected update.zip in above steps.

Installing JELLYBLAST V3.0.4 on Samsung Galaxy Y (GT-S5360):
    • First make sure that your phone is on Stock kernel, If it is on stock then you might get an error message saying “If your'e NOT on Stock kernel, either flash stock kernel, or open the JELLYBLASTV3.signed.zip on your pc, delete boot.img from it, and then flash the zip. In that way, you'll be able to use ANY kernel you already have. However,it is always advisable to start from stock in order to eliminate any possible runtime errors.”
    • You don’t have to worry about the same, just ignore it and remove a2sd or data2sd also format your 2nd partition if it is there.
    • Now place this file in to your sd card (You have to extract the downloaded zip file, also make sure that you are not placing the extracted files in any folders)
    • Once you have transferred the required file in your sd card, turn it off and enter Clockwork mode (In order to boot in to Clockwork mode press Power button + Home button + Volume Up button until Galaxy Y logo comes up)
    • Since touch screen won’t work in Clockwork mode, you will have to use volume keys for moving up and down.
    • So after wiping data cache and Dalvik cache you have to choose Install zip from sd card, chose JELLYBLAST V3.signed.zip and choose YES.
    • Once it gets installed, restart your phone. This time your phone might take up to 5 minutes to boot up, so be patient until media scanning is completed and your phone boots up with new rom.
