How to launch applications from the Windows 8 taskbar?

As we know that Windows 8 has a full screen menu which covers the full screen giving a bad time to many users. A person who has been using Windows XP for a long time and then Windows 7 will surely not like the full screen menu available in Windows 8. Many people have been searching for the address bar in Windows 8 so that they can directly type in the name of the application they want to launch. With full screen menu it happens that to open a small app like command prompt or calculator, opening the huge menu seems impractical. Also adding the shortcuts of these applications on home screen gives a clustered look to it. So I have found a way of adding the address bar to the taskbar of the Windows 8.

This is the old method which can also be done in Window XP, nothing new. But just to let you all know it,
    • Just right click on the taskbar and you will see a menu popping up.
    • On the top of this menu, you will find ‘Toolbars’.
    • When you take mouse on this ‘Toolbars’ option, another side menu will appear and then select ‘Address’ from it.
    • Click on this ‘Address and you will see address bar appearing on the right side of the taskbar.
    • Just for added comfort, you can unlock the taskbar by right clicking on it and resize the address bar to shift on the left side of the taskbar.
    • Completely drag the left end of taskbar to extreme left and then drag the right end towards the left side to adjust its size as you need.
    • Then again lock the taskbar. You can also set it to auto hide for extra clean home screen.

Now you can just type in ’calc’ to launch the calculator, ‘cmd’ for command prompt and so on for other applications. The best part is that you can even launch the web browser by typing the desired address or URL directly in this search bar.

This is good trick. I mean, I was irritated by the start menu of Windows 8. Want to open notepad, and we have to go through the big boring start menu all over. I think that with this address bar, much if the time required browsing through the menu will be reduced considerably. This is one of the best trick necessary for better productivity.
