How to backup and restore contacts of Skype?

Like any messaging software, Skype uses a contact list. It can therefore be very interesting to try to save them at any time to restore them later, if something goes wrong. Here's how to do that:

    Backup Skype contacts

    1. Open Skype and click on Contacts and go to Advanced Features and choose Backup contacts to a file.

    2. Choose a location for your file and name it. Note that it is saved as .vcf file.

    Restore Skype contacts

    1. Open Skype and click on Contacts and go to Advanced Features and select Restore contacts from file.

    2. Choose your file format that is saved as .vcf file from the location and double click on it or either open it. Thats it, the contact gets restored.

backup and restore Skype Contacts on Mac OS X

If anyone wants to backup skype contacts on Mac OS X then they can also do so with a manual procedure given below:

    1. First of all go to this location where mac computer stores skype contacts: ~/Library/Application Support/Skype
    2. If you are unable to locate the library directory on your mac os x then, you will have to unhide it accordingly, which will make the directory visible.
    3. After that, once you open up that directory just copy all the files from and save it to some other place.
    4. If anything goes wrong or the skype contacts disappear, then copy the same files which you have strored to some other place in this directory again and your skype contacts will be restored - ~/Library/Application Support/Skype
