    Guide for managing HTC One X on your Computer

    Where apps, data, and files are stored

    HTC One X uses the following memory types:
    Apps and data storage: Applications are stored in the memory, which is marked as internal memory in your phone settings. There are also data such as SMS, you have created or synchronized with your phone contacts, account settings, etc. are also stored. The memory is managed carefully and protected from the phone, as it has your personal data. If you connect your phone to a computer, this memory is not available from your computer. Let me tell you if you do factory reset it will remove all the contents which is stored in your phone. So before doing factory reset you will have to make sure that you have taken a backup of all your contents.

    File storage: This is another internal memory that is marked as the phone memory in your phone settings. Here you can store files. If you connect your phone to a computer that can access this memory, you will be able to copy files. If you put the tablet back to the default settings, you can choose whether to keep or delete the contents of the store.

    How to connect your phone to a computer

    Whenever you connect the HTC One X by using your USB cable to a computer, you will be able to see a window and in that window you will have to select the connection type and you will be prompted to select the type of USB connection. Select from the following options, and then you will have to click on Done option:

    * Charge only: Choose this option if you want to only charge the battery while the device is connected to a computer.
    * Disk drive: Choose this mode if you would like to copy any kind of files between the HTC one X and your computer. If this mode is enabled, you won’t be able to use application on the HTC One X, which access the memory, such as camera.
    * HTC Sync Manager: Choose this option if you want to sync media and data such as contacts, calendars, bookmarks and other kind of information among your computer and your phone. You will have to download and then install the HTC Sync Manager, if obtainable from our website. Or you can also download the most recent version of HTC Sync and install it to sync your media and data.
    * USB connectivity: If your computer has no Internet connection, that time you can select this mode, and after selecting this mode you will be able to share data between your computer and your phone.
    * Internet pass-through: If you do not have a data plan or have no access to a wireless network, you can choose this mode to use the Internet connection of a computer for your phone.

    How to copy files to or from the phone storage

    Let me tell you that you are able to copy all kind of files on your Phone: Connect the HTC One X via the included USB cable to a computer. In the Select Connection Type screen, you will have to select Hard Disk and after that you will have to click on Done option. When you do this your computer will automatically identify you phone as a removable disk. After it has identified it you just have to go the removable disk and copy any file which you would like to form your computer to your phone and even from your phone to the computer. After you have done with you’re transferring the files you will have to unmount the drive, then as required by the operating system of the computer to the HTC one X to remove safely. Now if you have done all this things and you would like to see and access your internal memory of your phone you will have to open the notification panel and there you will have to click on Disk drive now in that you will have to choose an option other than Disk drive and then you will have to click on Done option.

    HTC Sync Manager Basics

    Note: You will have to download and then install the HTC Sync Manager, if obtainable from our website. Or you can also download the most recent version of HTC Sync and install it to sync your media and data.

    How to Install HTC Sync Manager

    Before installation, you just have to go to the official website of HTC and over there you will have to check the system requirement for HTC Sync Manager.

    How to install on a Windows computer

    Important: To ensure trouble-free installation, you will have to quit all running programs and for the moment you will have to disable your antivirus program before you start installing HTC Sync Manager. And not only that much you also should have the administrator rights if you are using Windows Vista or any other newest version.
    Now just connect your phone via USB cable to a computer. In the Select Connection Type screen of HTC One X you will have to select the HTC Sync Manager, and after selecting that you will have to click on Done. If the AutoPlay window appears on your screen, you will have to select the HTC Sync Manager. If HTC Sync Manager is not detected on your computer, the browser will automatically open the HTC website. Now you will have to download the HTC Sync Manager Installation file to your computer. Now you just have to double click on that downloaded file and install the HTC Sync Manager as per the instruction.

    How to install on a Mac computer

    You will have to download the HTC Sync Manager Dmg file from the official site to your computer. Double click the downloaded dmg file. A symbol for the included dmg file is then created on the desktop. Double click on the icon of the included dmg file. When the window opens, drag the icon of the HTC Sync Manager software in the Applications folder, or somewhere else on this panel.
    Note: After installation it is suggested to remove the included dmg file. After doing that you will have to Drag the icon of the embedded image file onto the trash, or you can also just click the right mouse button over the icon and select Eject. Keep in mind do not delete the dmg file.

    How to get started

    If you open HTC Sync Manager for the first time, the First Steps window will open that allows you to add media to your library. Now you will have to open the HTC Sync Manager. Now if you see the Getting Started window, you can do following things like:

    * Automatically discover Media on My PC: You can automatically search for all music, photos and movies on your computer and after doing that you can add them to the HTC Sync Manager library.
    * Manually Import or Add Media from My PC: Select the folder to import from the media files. You can also import media files and playlists from other media applications.

    If you want to import media files manually, click OK to start importing into your library.

    In the main window allow you to view your media library and media playback. You can also sync with HTC One X, if it is connected, or rip music, when a CD is inserted into the computer. Click on music or albums to switch between the two libraries. If you are in one of the libraries, you will have to click on the lesser then sign icon to the previous screen. Play a song or video. Use the controls in the bottom center to control playback. Now you will have to click on the three horizontal lines icon if you would like to change the settings and you would also have to keep an eye on software update. After that you will have to click on the drop down box to opens a menu with a list of connected devices. If your phone is connected to the computer, you will have to click on the menu to set how you want to sync media and data. If you insert a music CD, click the menu on the drive for ripping music from CD.

    How to import more media to the library

    There are various ways to other media into your HTC Sync Manager to import library. For doing that you will have to click on music and in that you will have to click on Library and after doing that you will have to drag a folder to library window. You can also click on Gallery and in that you will have to click on albums and then drag a folder ALBUMS window. HTC Sync Point Manager so that selected folder are checked on your computer to new music, photos and videos and automatically imported into your library.
    Note: If you drag a folder or a media file that is added to the complete folder as an album to the library. The folder path is also the list of check folders added in the settings.

    How to add new media to your library automatically

    You can set the HTC Sync Manager to be automatically added to your media library, when new music, photos or videos are found on your computer. Add the folder to the Watched Folder in settings that you want HTC Sync Manager to confirm for new media. Now for doing this you will have to click on the three vertical lines icon form the main screen and then in that you will have to click on settings. In the music library settings: you just have to click on add to select any folder which you would like to have on HTC Sync Manager to check for new files. You can also click Import to select, for any other media applications on your computer you want to import music files. You can also click to import playlist to retrieve playlists from other media applications. Now you will have to click on Gallery library and in that you will have to click on Add to select folders that you would like to have on HTC Sync Manager to check for new videos and pictures. Now after you have done with this you will have to click on Apply option so that you can save the setting which you have done till now. And after click on Apply you will have to click on Ok option.

    How to check for new software updates

    For doing this you will have to click on the three vertical lines icon and there you will have to select Check for updates. If an update is available, you can download it and install it directly on the computer. You must include HTC Sync Manager when you are prompted to open the application and after the installation afterwards.

    What file formats are supported by HTC Sync Manager?
    Video formats and codecs: 3GP and 3G2 (3rd Generation Partnership Project), MP4 (MPEG-4)
    Audio formats and codecs: AAC and M4A (Advanced Audio Coding), FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec), AAC and M4A (High Efficiency AAC v1 and v2), MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3), WAV (Resource Interchange File Format), WMA (Windows Media Audio)
    Image formats: BMP, GIF, JPEG and JPG, PNG
    Note: The WMA and WAV formats Supports Windows sub only.

    How to play music in HTC Sync Manager

    Are you a music freak with a great collection of music on your computer? With HTC Sync Manager can manage your music library and you can also listen to your favorite songs. You will have to click on music when you are in HTC Sync Manager. By default, the LAST window appears in which the last played tracks and albums are listed. You can surf for your songs and albums, just by clicking on Library and after doing that you will have to click on album to open. You will have to double click on any song which you will have to listen too. Use the playback controls below to track pause, resume, repeating titles and more.
    Tip: Drag the slider bottom icon to left of the window to jump to a section of the title. If you switch to another window, the music playback is not stopped. The name of the currently playing track and album is displayed at the bottom.

    How to create a playlist

    For library music on an album or a track, you will have to click on Add on any song which you would like to add to a new playlist. Now you will have to click on Add to playlist and in that you will have to select new playlist. Now after doing that you will have to insert the name of the playlist which you like. If you want to add more tracks to the playlist, you will have to hold down the CTRL key while clicking on one or more albums or songs, and after doing that you will have to click on Add to playlist and after that just select the playlist name. Now when you have finished adding songs, you will have to click on PLAY. And after that you will have to Double click the thumbnail of the playlist and start playing.
    Tip: If you want to send only a single playlist to the HTC one X, you click the right mouse button on the playlist, click back to phone and then select the device name. (Make sure that the HTC One X is connected to the computer.)

    How to view photos and videos in HTC Sync Manager

    You will have to browse the photos and videos on your computer which you have imported into the HTC Sync Manager albums. Click on Sync Manager HTC Album. By default, the LAST window appears in which the previously viewed photos and videos will be shown. After that you will have to click on GALLERIES and after that you will have to double click on an album to open it. After doing this you will have to click on the drop down box icon next to Sort by and after that you will have to choose how you want to list your photos and make videos. Now after that you will have to double click on a photo or video to show a larger version.
    Tip: If you want to move multiple photos or videos to a different album, go over with your mouse and choose the box to each photo or video that you want to move. And after that you will have to click on Move album.

    How to edit your photos

    You can perform basic photo editing such as cropping and rotating. Now if you want to do this you will have to open the album which has the photos which you would like to edit. Now you will have to take your mouse on it and then choose the check button of each and every photo you would like to edit. After that you will have to click on the edit option and then a window will open that displays a thumbnail view of photos selected. And then you will have to click the thumbnail on the first photo and then select what you want to do with the photo.

    See photo information: Click detail information such as resolution, file format, display, etc.
    Rotate: Click Rotate Left or Rotate Right.
    Crop: Click Crop and then change the size or drag the crop window to the area of the photo you want to trim. You can also click Custom and then choose a preset size photo. After doing that you will have to click on apply. Now you will have to go to next photo. You will be prompted to save your changes to the current photo. After that just click on OK option to save and edit the next photo.
    Tip: If you want to send only one edited photo of the HTC One X, after you have done with this you will have to click Back to phone and then select the device name. (Make sure that the HTC X One is connected to the computer.)

    How to set up HTC Sync Manager to recognize HTC One X

    For doing that you will have to connect your phone with the supplied USB cable to your computer. When you do this at that time your phone will give you a pop-up saying which type of connection to do at that time you will have to click on HTC Sync Manager and after doing that you will have to click on Done. Now just wait for few seconds it will connect you phone and will recognize HTC Sync Manage. Now let me tell you if you are doing this process for the first time then you will have to insert the device name, now as you have inserted it now select the storage option on HTC One X to sync with and after all this has completed you will have to click on Save option and it will save all your changed which you have done.

    How to set up HTC One X to sync with your computer

    If HTC one X is connected to HTC Sync Manager, after that you will have to click on the drop down icon and after that you will have to click your device name. Now in the Synchronization Settings window you can set how you want to synchronize data between media and HTC One X and your computer.

    How to Sync music

    You can set up HTC Sync Manager to synchronize music files and playlists between your phone and your computer. Now after that on Synchronize Settings window you will have to click on the gear icon and in that you will have to select next to the music item. Now after doing that just click the On button. Now in that you can do many things like:

    * Import new music from device: Choose this option to add new songs, which were found on HTC One X to import in HTC Sync Manager. The music files are copied to the folder that is specified in the import settings.
    * Sync music to device: Choose this option to synchronize music files on your computer with HTC One X. then you will have to choose the synchronization All songs or you can also select only selected playlists.


    If one of HTC X and the computer will find conflicting playlists, you can select which playlist you want to keep. In cases when there are conflicting playlists on your phone and your computer, there you will have to select which playlist you would like to keep. After doing that you will have to click Done option so that you can save your music Sync settings.

    How to sync photos and videos

    On Synchronize Settings window you will have to click on the gear icon and in that you will have to select next to the Gallery item. Now after doing that just click the On button. Now in that you can do many things like:

    * Copy device photo and video: Choose this option to add new photos and videos that were found on your phone to import in HTC Sync Manager. The photographs and videos are copied to the folder that is precise in the import settings.
    * Sync albums to device: Choose this option to synchronize albums in your phone with HTC Sync Manager. Choose the Sync All albums or selected albums only.

    After doing that you will just have to click on Done option so that you can save your Sync settings.

    How to Sync documents and email attachments

    Important: If you want to synchronize your phone saved e-mail attachments to your computer, you will have to set up an Exchange ActiveSync or POP3/IMAP E-Mail account in the Mail application on your phone.
    On Synchronize Settings window you will have to click on the gear icon and in that you will have to select next to the Calendar item. Now after doing that just click the On button. If you want to synchronize e-mail attachments that you have stored on your phone, you will have to select all the downloaded e-mail copy documents to your PC. If you would like to select folder on your computer that contain documents that you want to sync with your phone, you will have to choose Synchronize PC documents from list and after that you will have to click Add. Now after that you will have to click on Done button so that it will save all your settings.

    How to Sync your contacts

    Set up HTC Sync Manager to synchronize your phone with Windows contacts, Outlook or Outlook Express. You can sync your phone with the following versions of Outlook: Outlook XP, Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010.

    Important: If the SIM card contacts are that you want to synchronize with your computer, you must first copy it into the memory of your phone.

    On Synchronize Settings window you will have to click on the gear icon and in that you will have to select next to the People item. Now after doing that just click the On button. After doing that you will have to select the application which you would like to sync your contacts.     How to Sync your calendar events

    On Synchronize Settings window you will have to click on the gear icon and in that you will have to select next to the Calendar item. Now after doing that just click the On button. After doing that you will have to select the application which you would like to sync your calendar events. Now you will have to decide when you want to start synchronize your calendar entries. If your phone and the computer will find contradictory information, you can select which contact you want to keep. Now after that you will have to click on Done button so that it will save all your settings.

    How to Sync your web bookmarks

    For doing this you will have to open any Web browser on your computer and there you will have to create a favorites folder with any name. After doing that you will have to save you synchronize your favorite bookmarks in this folder with your phone. Now on Synchronize Settings window you will have to click on the gear icon and in that you will have to select next to the Bookmarks item. Now after doing that just click the On button. After doing that you will have to select the web browser on your computer stores the bookmarks you want to sync with your phone. Now after that you will have to click on Done button so that it will save all your settings.

    How to Sync HTC One X and your computer

    Important: Check and make sure before synchronization that your phone is connected to your computer and HTC Sync Manager is detected. Close all web browser screen before you start the synchronization of bookmarks. If your phone and the computer will find contradictory information, the manager reserves the HTC Sync information from your computer. After completing the setup of all the elements you want to synchronize HTC Sync Manager, click Synchronize on synchronization settings windows to synchronize your phone to the computer.

    Ripping music from a CD with HTC Sync Manager

    HTC Sync Manager allows you to play audio CDs, and rip and later synchronize with your phone. For this you will have to insert a CD in your computer. Now when you insert the CD in your computer you will be shown a notification on your HTC Sync Manager now on that you will have to click on OK to see the content.
    Tip: Here you have to click on drop down box icon and after that you will have to choose the name of the CD which is inserted. Click in the list of available songs to a music track that you want to rip. If you want to select multiple files, hold down the CTRL key while you click on one or more songs. Now you will just have to click on start ripping the audio files which you would like to import. Now you will be seeing a orange color icon at side of the music track while the ripping is going on and you will also see a green start icon if the music track is in the line. Now after you have completed your ripping you would be able to see the tick mark in green color next to the selected track.
