How to turn on location services

If you will have to find any locations on your HTC One X for that you will have to allow the location sources. For doing this you will have to open the notification panel and after doing this you will have to click on Settings option and in there you will have to go to Location. You can also select anyone of the following thing.

* For using Google's location service: Uses wireless or mobile data connection in order to conclude your estimated location.
* And for using GPS satellites: It determines your exact GPS location. This need a clear view of the sky and is also more battery power.

Find places of interest, call for locations and directions to use while driving, the turn-by-turn GPS navigation application with the locations. The Locations application is your ideal travel companion, whether you are in your home country or abroad. The locations application you can download maps in advance, so you do not have to worry about an internet connection when you are traveling, or to high charges for data roaming abroad.
Note: If you are in a place surrounded by buildings, cannot possibly determine your location locations accurately.

How to find your location and what’s around you

For doing this you will have to click on the main menu button on your home screen and find Location. Now if you are not able to find the exact location on the map you will have to click on the globe kind of icon. After that you will have to click on quick link option and in that you will have to click nearby. Now after doing that you will have to choose any location which is famous and close to you.

How to search for a place of interest

You can search for the name of a device, a road or a city. Proposed terms are displayed as you type. Now you will have to click on the magnify glass icon in Locations menu. After doing that you will have to click on the Points of interest. Now you will have to insert the place which you are searching for.
Note: If you do not see what you are looking for, then you can just click on the Advanced Search option to expand your search.
Now after doing that you will have to click on establishment to get directions which would be shown on the map and many more things.

How to search for an Address

For doing this you will have to click on the magnify glass icon in Locations menu. After doing that you will have to click on Address option. Just keep in mind you will have to insert as much address as possible.
Note: If you do not see what you are looking for, then you can just click on the Advanced Search option to expand your search.
After that just match the information which you have entered. And just click on the address which you are looking for. Select from the options available to display on a map, directions, etc. to retrieve from.

How to choosing the map to search from

For doing this you will have to click on the magnify glass icon in Locations menu. Click before executing the search option on the News by Region sought and then select the desired country. If you have downloaded a map for this country, is looking for locations in online maps.

Viewing maps

For doing this you will have to click on the main menu button on your home screen and find Location. As soon as you do this it will show you a map and where it will show you your perfect location.

* Click on magnify icon to find places of interest or an address.
* Click on road icon to switch between 2D and 3D view.
* Click on the icon which has a map with red color pin on it to display details, place a call, get directions and more.
* Click on the green color icon for your current position.
* Click on the compass icon to use or not use the compass.
* When you're manually controlling the direction of the map with your two fingers you will be able to see a compass with a hand over it in white color.
* There are two icons one with + sign and the other with – sign this are the zooming in and zooming out icon. By clicking on them you can zoom in or you can also zoom out easily.
* You can also click on Quick Link to see more tabs, such as Footprints and Trips.

How to select which places of interest to show on the map

For doing this you will have to click on the three vertical lines icon when you are viewing the map. Now in that you will have to click on view option. Select the places of interest, what you see on a card or not you want to view.
Tip: You can also view and 3D building footprints on the map or hide.
After doing all this setting you will have to click on OK to finish.

How to pin a location on the map

Select a Favorite place on the map and add it as a footprint, call directions from him or share it with friends. Now when you want to do this kind of thing you will have to press and hold the place on the map which you would like to pin. Now just click on pin icon and select whatever you want to pin.
Note: If you want to remove all the pins on the map, you will have to click on the three vertical lines on the map then you will have to click on clean pin. As by doing this you will be able to delete all the pins from the map.

How to change the language of street names and places of interest

If you what to do thing you will have to click on the three vertical lines icon when you are seeing the map, now in that you will find an option know as setting click on that after click that you will see Map option click on that after click that you will see Map Language select that. You can also select one of the following. Use navigation map language: Use this if you want to use the local language for the map. Example, if you open a map of Japan, Japanese characters is displayed. Use language that fits best if you want to use the current language settings. This may not be available for all cards.

How to record favorite places with HTC Footprints

HTC Footprints is an easy way to record your favorite places and visit those places again. You can take a photo of a place like a restaurant or attraction, and it along with the exact GPS location, address, telephone number, and save more. If you want to visit the same place again, you can simply open the footprint. You can then view the location on a map, search on the Web and more.

How to add a location as a footprint

Look for the destination you want to go to you. Click on Save to Footprints. You can also do some of this things click on the pin icon to adjust the position of the footprint on the map. You can also click on the three dots icon and then select the appropriate label for the site. You can also click on Capture to record a picture and add it as a photo of the footprint. If you what to Edit to add a note about this footprint you will have to first click on the three vertical lines icon. Also Voice recording, a voice memo to add footprint can be done by clicking on the three vertical lines icon. After you have completed with all this kind of things you will have to click Done to finish it.

How to set a footprint as your home location

You can also save your home address as footprint, so that you can easily set as your target. For doing this you will have to click on the Quick links while you are on the home location by opening location. And in that you will find Footprint option. After that you will have to click on the footprint icon. And you can do any kind of changes if you what to and after doing that click on Done option. You can also click on Set your own home option and then choose your home address in the list.

Revisiting a footprint

When you are on the Footprints tab you will have to click on a category. Then just click the footprint, you might visit again. Select the Actions tab, want to see the footprint on the map, get directions, facilities, etc. want to retrieve in the vicinity.

How to Edit or delete a footprint

Click on the Footprints tab and then click on a category. After doing that just press and hold the footprint you want to edit or delete. And then if you want to edit or delete you will have to select from the option menu.

How to share your footprints

For doing this you will have to click on the Footprints tab on any of the category. After doing that you have to press and hold the preferred footprint. Then click on any parts and decide how you want to share the footprint.

How to delete multiple footprints

For doing this you will have to click on the Footprints tab and then you will have to click on any of the category. And you have to click on the three vertical lines icon and over there you will find Delete option click on it. After you click that you will have to choose the footprints which you would like to delete and then click on Delete option.

How to export your footprints

You can Back up all the footprints by just exporting them. You can even open exported footprints files in many other applications like Google Earth on your computer. For doing this you will have to click on the Footprints tab and then you will have to click on any of the category. Then you will have to click on the three vertical lines icon and then there you will find Export option and then you will have to click on Ok. Footprints are exported as .Kmz files. You can also get multiple footprints at the same time and even they will be simultaneously in one .Kmz file only.
Tips: After you have exported all the thing if you what to send it to anyone you just have to click on share option and it will be shared.

How to import footprints

How to get the footprints again which previously you had backed up. For that you can also import .Kmz files, which you would have store in some different application. So for doing this kind of thing you will have to click on three vertical lines icon on the Footprints tab and over there you will find import option. Click on Footprints data, and then click on the file you want to import back.

How to plan your trip

Use travel to plan your itinerary. Select locations in a city or country you are visiting and go easy directions from one place from the other.

Creating a trip

For doing this you will have to click on the main menu icon while you are on Home screen and after clicking this you will have to locate locations. And doing that you will have to click on Quick links and then click on trips. Now after doing that on the trip tab you will have to click on the plus icon and there you will have to create a new trip. Now over there you can also give the name of your trip. Then click on the plus icon and search for a place which you thing is good from the available options. You can even add many other places which you would like to visit. After doing all this kind of things you just have to click on Save option to save all the changes you have done.

How to get directions to your places of interest

Now for doing that you will have to click a trip to open it on the trips tab. Now after that you will have to click on the boxes with pin icon for seeing the map. Now after that you can click on three horizontal lines with an arrow. This map shows the route to the places that you have added, beginning with the first point of your route. You can also do these things. At the bottom of the window click on the lesser than sign icon or greater then sign icon to trace the route of your journey. Slide the direction bar up and then click on the instructions to follow the route of your journey.

How to manage a trip

Have you changed your travel plans? After creating a trip, you can add places, delete or rearrange. Click in the travel window on a journey to open it. You can also do many things over here.

* Add more places: For doing this you will have to click on the plus icon. Find out the available options for a place of interest.
* Reorder places: For doing this you will have to click on the three vertical lines icon and then click on edit. Then you will have to press and hold the three lines icon at the end of the element you want to move. If the row is highlighted, drag them to the new position and release it then. After doing that just click on Done option.
* Delete places: For doing this you will have to click on the three vertical lines icon and then click on edit. Just mark the places which you would like to delete. After doing that just click on Done button so that you can save the changes.

Exporting your trips

Secure travel by making it as an export .TCZ files and save them. For doing this you will have to click on the three vertical line icon on the trips tab and then Export.
Tip: If you want to deselect all the trips you will have to click on the three vertical lines icon and then select Deselect all.
Exported trips are saved as .TCZ files. If you have exported several trips at the same time, they are together in one .TCZ file.

Importing trips

You do not have .TCZ files secure travel show again. For doing this you will have to click on the three vertical line icon on the trips tab and then import. Now you will have to click on the file which you would like to import and after clicking that just click on import option it will import all the files.

How to get directions from your current location

Look for the place you want to go to the venues in the application.
Tip: If you saved Footprints? You can also set a footprint as your destination. For that you just have to go to the Footprints tab and select a footprint.
Now click on Directions and after that Decide how you want to achieve your goal. On the displayed map, the route is displayed to your destination. You can do these things over here. Click on the lesser then sign icon or greater than sign at the bottom of the window and then follow the route to the destination. You can even slide the directions bar upwards and then click the instructions to follow the route to your target.

How to get directions by setting a start and end location

When you are seeing the map you will have to click on the three vertical lines icon and click on Direction. After that click the text box and then locate My Location on the desired starting point. Click the text box and then search for endpoint to the desired goal. Click on Driving or Walking depending on how you want to get to your target. Here also you can do many things like: Click on the lesser then sign icon or greater than sign at the bottom of the window to follow the route to the target. Slide the direction bar upwards and then click on the instructions to follow the route to your target.

How to using turn-by-turn navigation

Important: Look to see if you turn-by-turn navigation for the country or region have to buy/where you are located. In order to use turn-by-turn navigation, the option must be selected GPS satellites under Settings and then Location.
Look for the place you want to go to the venues in the application.
Tip: If you saved Footprints? You can set it as your target. Just go to the Footprints tab and select a footprint.
After doing that you just click on Premium navigation.

How to set navigation preferences

Specify how to display the locations application your route. You can tell the application venues to avoid highways or toll roads, road show information, indicate your preferred route, etc. When you are using turn-by-turn navigation you can also click on the gear icon and then click on Navigator. And you can also set your preferences set by selecting any items.

How to turn off speed and safety camera alerts

If you are having the safety camera service, you can also disable this service for the time being. When you are using turn-by-turn navigation you can also click on the gear icon and then click on Warnings. And you can also disable the speed reference options and safety camera information.

How to answer a call while using navigation

If you receive a call, the entire card is slightly pushed up, so you can see and answer the incoming call. You can then use the navigation on, because the call window only occupies a small area at the bottom of the screen.

How to manage Locations services

Take a look at the maps, navigational aids, safety camera information and voices for turn-by-turn voice instructions, which are already available on the HTC One X.
