    Hot Flash BIOS tips

    How to make HOT FLASH BIOS or to Recovery and re-programming Hot Flash BIOS.As I have seen many users have asked this kind of question so I would like to explain you how to do this.
    The BIOS (Basic Input-Output System) is a key component of the PC. It consists of two parts, electronics and software. In principle, the electronic part is a small microprocessor with a memory that contains the firmware (software). This software is loaded to BOOT the computer, and interfacing with the microprocessor on the motherboard, can operate on several important and basic settings of the PC! After this brief introduction, we try to understand what types of BIOS are. The microprocessor in the BIOS is defined as electronic EEPROM. The main types of electronic equipment used as EEPROM BIOS on PCs are of 4 types:
    1. TSOP
    2. PLCC32
    3. DIP32
    4. SPI Flash

    The EEPROM formats "TSOP" and "SPI Flash" by nature is soldered directly on the motherboard of the PC. While those of type "PLCC32" and "DIP32" are inserted to the fitting of the appropriate sockets soldered onboard and therefore are easily removable.

    In most cases, however, will find BIOS in "PLCC32" and thus we will concentrate in the recovery and re-programming of these. Each producer of motherboards in fact, provides firmware updates for BIOS and utility software for programming the same. These utilities are increasingly bootable from windows, with comfortable GUIs but the procedure is risky as a possible crash of the operating system may be blocking the update process, causing the user to shutdown the computer. We were wrong! If the reprogramming procedure was performed at 100% we would have BIOS programmed to half that never work and the PC in question will no longer run, until it will restore the firmware properly. Fortunately, these EEPROM can be reprogrammed thousands of times, but at this point we would need an external programmer to link the BIOS. In small laboratories pc repair for example there is always the need for an external programmer at hand. Even many technicians do not even know where to start to solve the problem.

    Let me explain a system whereby you can, by using another motherboard, bios reprogramming of other motherboard with the DOS utility, FLASH864.

    First, we recover a motherboard running that has a PLCC32 socket for BIOS. This Motherboard will be able to boot DOS from a floppy or bootable pen drive.
    Download FLASH864, extract the contents of the package and copy the files flash864.exe in selected boot device (floppy or pen drive bootable).
    Downloaded from the manufacturer of the ROM firmware to load or reprogram the BIOS corrupted and also copied to a floppy or pen drive.

    Locate the BIOS to be reprogrammed, and gently remove it from the socket, with the help of a small tool, like a tiny watchmaker, to serve as a lever on the spaces in the corners.

    Now pay close attention!
    Start the motherboard running and you start DOS. At this point, and BEFORE starting flash864, remove it from its socket on the motherboard BIOS working, taking care not to touch other electronic parts with a tool of leverage, and enter the BIOS to be reprogrammed.

    The BIOS is only read it during BOOT and then auto-off, and then the computer continues to run even without it, until the next reboot. This procedure is not without risks, is called HOT FLASH or HOT SWAP, and because it makes the computer is on. Make it when you have nothing to lose, you can do serious damage as long as you are careful not to drop the BIOS or metal parts on the motherboard while in use!

    Start flash864: Check bottom left is a box "info", which allows you to check if the program has correctly read the type of EEPROM. "Flash" shows you the model, and "flash size" capacity in KB of internal memory.

    Loaded and the file containing the firmware ROM to be reprogrammed.
    Go to "Flag" and disable the "BIOS CHECK ID".

    Why use Flash864? The problem arises if for example we have a motherboard with BIOS firmware like Phoenix, and we want to reprogram using the utility provided by the manufacturer, a different firmware type Award. The utility compares the fact that you're bios to load, verify that the boot is loaded bios Phoenix and you're going to program a different BIOS, or even that the current hardware (rightly) is different from what goes on the motherboard installed this firmware. Flash864 unlike utility specifications provided by manufacturers, allows you to skip this check and we have set before disabling "BIOS CHECK ID".

    After loading the firmware on the program and have disabled the control of the type of bios, press Return, and begin the process of flash! This procedure can be used to build up estimates of BIOS, or a different reprogrammed! You can also retrieve an old motherboard with BIOS in "DIP32", and use an adapter readily available online.

    WARM FLASH METHOD (experienced only)
    Another is to flash the BIOS hot. The theory and practice indicates that the BIOS chip only works on startup. Once I start the PC (step the post and is the legend of the operating system) is a chip that does nothing.
