Winamp comes standard with three skins. Winamp Classic is the name for the classic skin, really only meant for older PCs or for whom Winamp minimized wish to use. The Bento and Winamp Modern skin are enhanced skins that look better and with more options. First of all, to install and use Winamp skins you must have a version of the player that is compatible. Since version 2.24 or 2.25 onwards you can use the skins called "Classics", whereas version 5 onwards you can use all including "modern skins".
The following skins are thus supplied with the complete (full) installation of Winamp:
- Winamp Classic: simple skin for minimal use of Winamp,
- Winamp Modern: winamp with a modern twist with movable windows,
- Bento: A window with all common components of Winamp,
- Big Bento: a larger version of the bento skin,
On the Internet, there are many skins for Winamp to find. We recommend downloading skins only from trusted sites, because here there is a risk for a virus. Winamp 5.05 and later versions contain a security and since skins are when they first opened, not immediately installed, but you are asked if you want to allow installation of a skin. It would be better if you always choose to install skins from the Winamp official site.
A skin is usually in the form of a molded installer, or is a "shore", "wsz" or "zip" file. In the case of an installation, you can simply run to the skin automatically installed. Skins as a file, such as "shore" (Modern skin), "wsz" (classic skin) and "zip" (packed modern skin), you can place in the program folder of Winamp under "skins" (usually "c: \ program files \ winamp \ skins "). Then open the file and choose "Yes" if you are sure to want to install the skin (and it is a reliable place). Start Winamp again to complete the installation.
To change the skin we must address the WinAmp skins folder where they are stored. No need to go from Windows Explorer, but clicking the right mouse button on the main screen of Winamp we will see a box that says "skins", and then positioning ourselves with the mouse on this option opens a menu with all installed skins. There you can select the skin which you want. Another option to access the menu is entering Winamp preferences (ctrl + p) then go to the "skins" located on the left side.
In the version of Winamp 2 and 3, to access the skins folder is to type "ALT + S" or we give the small "O" is in the upper left corner of the screen (above the "P" ) and choose to select skin, then, we will choose the skin you want and accept.
