How to create your own commands in Mac OS 9?

Through this article I will be explaining you how to create your own commands in Mac OS 9. If you look at your own computer then it has a set of built-in speakable command which you can utilize to tell the computer which functions to perform.

Now in MAC OS 9 you can create your own set of commands by adding the items to the Speakable Items folder. Now let’s have a detailed look which all command s are available and how to create and execute them.

    - Global commands

Global commands are those commands which can be spoken when any application is open

. How can we create Global commands?

You need to drag a file in to the Speakable Items folder. Now its important to note that you can drag all types of files such as aliases, documents, folders, applications, and AppleScripts to this folder.

    - application-specific commands

application specific commands can be spoken when the application is active.

. How can we create application-specific commands?

    1) You need to Turn on Speakable Items.

    2) Then in the application you need to say "Make this application speakable."

    3) Now this creates a folder for the application in the Speakable Items folder. So whatever items you pull and drop in that particular folder that will turn as a spokencommands.

    4) You can also create a script that can use the application command as a spoken command.

    5) You can make use of apple scripts in order to make such scripts and once the script is created drag it to the application speakable items folder in the Speakable Items folder.

    - Deleting speakable commands

    1) Select and drag out the file that you want to delete from the Speakable Items folder.

Re: How to create your own commands in Mac OS 9?

    - Always give a command a different name it should be much different from the other names in the folder. while framing a file names it is always important to note that the filename should be long command names, if you are giving abbreviations then always ensure there is a space between the abbreviations, try avoiding numerals. A computer cannot differentiate between “hello number 1.5” and hello Number one point five” that’s why the necessary caution.

    - Changing the name of the Speakable Items folder in order to edit the commands can be done.

    - Ensure that you don’t give the same command name to the application command as well as global command
