Tips to Replace your Existing iPod Battery

The life span of iPod batteries has always been controversial. Although many owners of the first 5-gigabyte iPod model are still using the battery without any problems, but sooner or later all batteries are on its mind. This one will not have to wake up one morning and find that the battery is dead, but the whole thing will take place over a longer period in which the charge capacity progressively weaker and therefore the distances between the individual charging processes are becoming shorter. And someday you will need to replace the battery.

Replacing the battery in an iPod is notoriously difficult; the iPod Touch is perhaps the most difficult. With delicate, easily damaged and a battery that is soldered in place, the owners do not know how to change ipod battery sometimes hire a technician to do it. But for those determined to change the battery of the iPod touch itself, there are some tips to consider before tackling the task.

    Beware of the antenna

The first generation iPod Touch has a gold antenna which is very small and located in an inside corner. When you open the ipod, be careful that the antenna does not fall and when you close, you must be sure that the process of battery replacement involves removing the antenna and antenna circuit board. Be very careful when handling them. Both are fragile and can easily bend or break.

Be careful when opening the case

Opening the chassis of an iPod Touch is a challenge and risk. If you are still under warranty, it will surely going to lose it. To open the back cover or chassis you can use something small and thin tool but is likely to be scratched and damaged in the process. A safer option is to purchase special tools to open soft plastic. When using these tools, you have to open the device in the first attempts, otherwise tool is damaged forever and you cannot use it further.

    See the front panel

In the second and third generation ipod Touch, a plastic frame is attached to the outer edge of the glass front panel and wide belts in black on top and bottom of the device.
Do not insert the opening tool on the edge of the front panel and run it on the side. This may damage not only the rubber strip along the plastic casing, but also the front panel itself. Instead, insert the tool and make a point lever slightly. Remove the tool and reinsert it in the next point to be leveraged. Continue in this manner, surrounding the case, until the two parts are separated. Do not scratch the panels since it will be visible clearly on the black panel.

Watch battery: the placement and drivers

Before installing the replacement battery, you should read guide or manuals or even video tutorials regarding it. Replacing the battery backwards - that is, with the cable at the top - can destroy the logic board in the second generation and later iPod Touch. It is also essential for the battery cover to expose the head with the tape once your new battery is installed, to prevent short circuits that may damage the device.

    Be prepared for welding

While the battery of the iPod touch first generation was welded directly to the motherboard, later generations of welding of the battery to the motherboard through holes in the battery cable of the tape. To replace the battery on any iPod Touch requires welding equipment and skills. Furthermore, it is vital that withdraw the pad when soldering since solder can melts critical components due to excess heat can result in what you upload or break the plate.

A short instruction for replacing the iPod Shuffle battery is as follows:

    • Next thing is about removing the USB port. It is not too hard though. After this you can easily open the shuffle using flat head screwdriver
    • Now remove the internal components of the by inserting pen in the audio connector
    • While Pulling the USB connector, remaining parts also come out.
    • Now disconnect the battery from the board by cutting the wires,
    • Cut the wires from the battery to the system board. This releases the iPod battery.
    • Put a new battery and solder the wires to the board.
    • Replace the components inside and also a cover by applying glue to the groove surrounding.

Re: Tips to Replace your Existing iPod Battery

I recommend to go with Apple replacement policies. They might charge you but it is good for the device. There are similar batteries in the market which comes cheaper but are not recommended for the iPod. iPod charge $59 for nano and classic. This includes the shipping charge also. Last time my friend got the same replaced from local shop and it worked fine for some months but now again battery drain issue appeared.
