    How to create Shutdown / Restart / Lock Icons in Windows Vista or windows 7

    If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 and if you do not like the view of it shutdown menu. Then you can try an alternative option for that. For this you can now create an icons with the help of it you can shutdown, lock or restart your system. For this you do not have to use that popup menu. But in the Windows 7 the shutdown menu is little superior for this you are able to use the hotkey for it. The tips which I am going to show you is not new it as an old one which as been followed by a number of users at present. I just thought to right it down so that many of the users will be getting help form this tips.

    For this you have to right click on the desktop, after that you have to choose the option New and then the option Shortcut.





    For this in the shortcut location box you have to just enter the correct command. Which I am going to list for you below.



    To Shutdown the Computer you have to try this command

    Shutdown.exe -s -t 00

    To Restart the Computer you have to try this command


    HTML Code:
    Shutdown.exe -r -t 00
    For Restart the Computer you have to try this command

    HTML Code:
    Rundll32.exe User32.dll,LockWorkStation

    To Hibernate the Computer you have to try this command
    HTML Code:
    rundll32.exe PowrProf.dll,SetSuspendState
    And to make you Computer in a sleep mode try this command

    rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState 0,1,0

    When you are clicking on the next on the above dialog, you will be asked for the name for which you have to make the shortcut. Almost certainly best to name it according to the right function.



    How to change the Shortcut Icon

    As the default icon is actually not good, and if you desire to have separate shortcuts for each function you might desire to alter the icon. Then you have to right click on the same and click on properties from where you can change the icon also.



    Note in this you be able to drag them to your quick launch bar if you would prefer to have encompassed them there. this are some of the tip for the shortcut Icon which will be helpful to you for the easy use.
