How to improve laptop battery life

I purchased a new Dell XPS laptop.
Anybody suggest me how can i improve my laptop's battery's life?

In this particular situation I wanted to tell you that you should lower down the LCD brightness. Well it is the main factor for the power drain. Brighter the screen the shorter the battery life will be.Second thing which you can do is keep your laptop away from the heat

We have a couple of suggessions here whiole compared to a battery life on a laptop. One of the suggestions that dkbose gave is one of the best of "4".

You can also change a couple of settings in the power options to get your comptuer a managable battery life.

Hope you have a Win 7 OS installed on your computer, if so click on the battery logo to the bottom right on taskbar and check for the power saver options, go to advanced and there u have options to check and un check.

You can disable the Wifi aggressiveness and the display adapters ( temproaryly disable the graphics card when u r in travel)

you can do it in the power saver profile where the balanced one can be made normal.

I'm sure you'll get a better battery life by switching the profiles after editing the above....
