Manually distribute Bandwidth for different applications on same PC

On your computer, you browse the Internet, download files, watch streaming videos, send and receive emails, do some P2P, etc.. When you all at the same time, even with a broadband connection, your bandwidth is not sufficient and should be divided among your various applications.

As a result, P2P or other intensive application monopolizes virtually all your resources which leads to the slower your internet browsing to your emails, ...

If multiple computers share a single Internet connection, this drop in download speed also affects other computers on your network.

Not to undergo this reduction in bandwidth applications that you believe are priorities, you can divide bandwidth according to your needs. The software and NetLimiter will allow you to define for each software, but also for each of your computers, the maximum bandwidth they can use.

Your bandwidth allows you to download normally to 600 kbps? With 3 computers, you can for example limit the speed to 200 kbps on each of them. Each computer will provide a guaranteed bandwidth. Nothing prevents you no longer on each computer in addition to limit the bandwidth of particular software.

    Download and install NetLimiter:

NetLimiter is an ultimate internet traffic control and monitoring tool designed for Windows. You can use NetLimiter to set download/upload transfer rate limits for applications or even single connection and monitor their internet traffic.

    • Download NetLimiter
    • Click the Save button. Choose a location to save the installation file NetLimiter and click Save again.

    • Once the download is complete, click Run.

    • Confirm the operation by clicking again on Run.
    • The installation wizard opens NetLimiter. Double-click the Next button and then click Install.

    • If you already use a firewall to protect yourself on the Internet, it's not worth it to enable this with NetLimiter. So disable it by unchecking the Enable Personal Firewall internal. Then click the Next button.

    • Then click the Finish button to restart your computer to finish and install NetLimiter.

    Control bandwidth:

Basically, NetLimiter allows you to control the software that access the Internet and the speed of data they exchange.
    • Run NetLimiter by double clicking on its icon on the desktop.

    • Click the Continue button.

    • The list of processes being used and how much data they download or send over the Internet is displayed.

    • The amount of data exchanged is specified in bytes. For better readability, you can pass in KB which is the unit used by most browsers and software that use the Internet. Just click on the arrow next to the item and select the unit KB.

    • Transfer speeds are then shown in KB

    • For example, we download globally at the speed of 558.90 KB / s uploadons speed of 71.63 KB / sec Internet Explorer (iexplore.exe) downloads at 378.98 KB / s Firefox (firefox.exe) downloads at 179.92 KB / s Outlook (outlook.exe) sending data to 71.63 KB / sec

Limiting the bandwidth used by software:

NetLimiter allows you to limit the bandwidth used by any software. here is how to do so:
    • Besides the process of software to limit, in the Received column check Limit.

    • Then click in the field to the right of this box (which contains the value 5 by default).

    • Set the speed limit (in KB / s) for this software tĂ©lĂ©chargement.Cliquez the Set button.

    • The download speed is then limited to the value you just set.

    • To limit the bandwidth used in sending (upload), do the same with the Email column.

Limit the bandwidth allocated to each computer:

If multiple computers share your Internet connection, you can prevent a single computer is monopolizing all the resources by limiting the bandwidth allocated to each computer. For this you must first install NetLimiter time on each computer as administrator. Mainstream users that use limited accounts do not and will close the service NetLimiter and interrupt the limitation.

To set limits on each computer, you must configure NetLimiter on each of them. You can do this do it from your computer and connect to services NetLimiter installed on other computers on the LAN.
    • On your computer, run NetLimiter by double clicking on its icon on the network.

    • Click on the link remote.

    • In the Computer field, enter the local IP address of the computer you want to limit bandwidth. NetLimiter must of course be installed on this computer.

    • Enter the username of an administrator account on that computer.

    • Check the box automatic Refreshments and enter a value of 10 000 (10 seconds).

    • Click on the link Connect.

    • In the window that appears, enter the username of the administrator account on the remote computer and its password. Click the OK button.

    • Click the Continue button.

    • The remote computer is displayed in the Connection list.

    • You can limit his bandwidth by downloading and sending in by checking the appropriate boxes and setting the speed limit next to its IP.

    • Repeat for the other computers on the network.

    • The list of computers you are driving is displayed in the Remote Administration. The next time, simply check the boxes to configure the computers and click on the link Connect.
