Run any application with just a mouse right click in Windows 7

If you want to quickly launch a program that you use frequently, without needing to add extra icons on the desktop or taskbar, you can add it to the Office menu.

Thus, a simple right click on the desktop will display a list of your favorite software and an additional click will allow you to run the software of your choice. For this you must edit the Windows registry to specify the programs to add to this menu.

Create a restore point:

Errors in the registry modification can disrupt the operation of Windows, hence i strongly advise you to do a restore point before your manipulations. Thus, in case of trouble, you can always revert to the last functional parameters, and that even if Windows will not boot.

• Click the right mouse button on the Computer icon on your desktop (or My Computer with Windows XP) and click Properties. If this icon is not on the desktop, you'll find in the Start menu.
• Click on System Protection.
  
• Then click the Create button.
  
• Name the restore point and click Create.
  
• The restore point is created. Click Close and then OK.

Adding Applications to the context menu:

Adding software to the desktop context menu is through the registry. Here is how to do that:

• Click the Start button (then click Run Windows XP). Enter the command regedit and press Enter to validate.
  
  
• In the Windows Registry Editor that appears, scroll down the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, Directory, Background, shell.
  
  
• Click the Edit menu, click New then click Key.
  
  
• Then enter the name of the software as it will appear in the context menu, Word 2010 for example.
  
  
• Then click on the Edit menu, click New then click Key.
  
  
• Name the key command.
  
  
• Double click on the (Default) command for this key.
  
  
• Then type or copy the full path to the software (right click in the field, then Paste). If you do not know the path to the software, see the next step . Confirm.
  
  
• Back in the Shell key and repeat the operation (key with the name of the software and key command and full path in the Default value) for other software to add to the context menu.
  
  
• Close the Registry Editor.
  
  
• Now right click on the desktop will display a list of your software. Then simply click on it to launch.

Find the full path of Application:

To add a shortcut to a program from the shortcut menu, you must know the full path. There are several ways to know this information.

With the Start menu:

• Click the Start button and then click All Programs.
  
• Click the right mouse button on the software name and click Properties.
  
• The Target field is automatically selected. Copy it with Ctrl + C.
  
• Click OK. Then simply paste the full path in the registry with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V.

With explorer:

• In Explorer, open the folder to install the software you want to know the shortcut.
  
• Press the Shift key and hold.
  
• Click the right mouse button on the software executable file and click Copy as Path.
  
• Then simply paste the full path in the registry with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V.
