Tips and Hacks for LG Chocolate Phones

I have started this thread to post the Tips and Hacks for all the LG Chocolate phones as I am using the same one. But still it is almost same when we talk about using the different models of the LG Chocolate series phone. Currently I am using LG Chocolate VX8550 which is beautiful piece of electronic technology. Here I have posted one tip for Chocolate VX8550. So you may post about your Chocolate phone as well. It might help you is some or the other way.

On your LG Chocolate VX8550, Turn off the EV-DO and Save Battery Life:

• Go to the Home screen and then press Menu+0. Now Dial ##PROGRAM8550 (##77647268550) and press then Send it.
• Now type in 000000 & choose "Network Select".
• Now choose "Mode Preference" and Switch it to 1x only
• Push End after which your phone may power cycle.

To unlock your WAP-and you need to edit a file and proxy server. Server can be yours, and perhaps someone anonymously over the Internet. Does not really matter. Necessary steps to Configure your phone to contact your laptop through Bluetooth:

1. Configure your phone to contact your laptop through Bluetooth:
2. Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant (from the menu on Bluetooth, select Set up Bluetooth Device)
3. Click Continue, select Mobile Phone without pressing Continue
4. On your phone go to Menu-> Settings & Tools -> Bluetooth Menu and select Options, right. From there, select Discovery Mode and say Yes to the question Turn Bluetooth power on, and asks if you change the mode On.
5. Now click Continue to your Bluetooth Setup Assistant. Wait a few seconds to display phone.
6. When the phone is found to display the LG VX8550. Select it and click Continue

8. Click Continue again in the Bluetooth Setup Assistant and will be shown number authentication.
9. At the same time your phone will ask for the number for authentication. Enter it and click OK. If all went well until the phone will display here "Paired successfully". Wait a few seconds and select "Always Connect" to the question Before connecting.

Unlocking LG Chocolate via BitPim:

• Run the latest version of BitPim.
• Go to the BitPim-> Preferences.
• For Phone Type, select LG VX8550
• Com port to enter / dev/cu.LGVX8550-BTDIAG-1 and click OK
• From the View menu, select View Filesystem
• Choose File System in the left pane and navigate to the directory OWS
• Right-click on paramtable1.fil and choose Save. Save the file to your computer. Repeat step, save the file in second place for backup
• Start 0xED and open one of the two paramtable1.fil
• At the outset of the file up-left, you should see: 30 1E 00 01. Change the third pair of 20 to receive 30 1E 20 01.
• Save and close the file.
• In BitPim again right click on the file and select paramtable1.fil "Overwrite"
• Specify the file you just edited and press Open
• When the light in the lower left corner becomes green, right-click a file and select Reboot Phone.
• Once the phone is working again, dial: # # 77647268550 which comes from # # program8550 for easy retention and press Send. The password is 000000.
• From the menu choose Wap Settings-> Proxy Address Setting
• Now you must enter your proxy or any or any free proxy. You can search on Google for such
• Replace the proxy and port in the menu Wap Settings-> Proxy Port Setting
• You can change and Username and Password if your proxy requires it

If you have not done the above steps, do the steps "Configure phone to contact your laptop over Bluetooth". Then simply do the following:
Disable authentication methods:

• Open Termina.app
• type: sudo pico / etc / ppp / options and press Enter, type your password
• put the following 3 lines:
• refuse-chap
• refuse-mschap
• refuse-mschap-v2
• Press ctrl + o and Enter, then ctrl + x and close Terminal.app

Now enter the program menu by dialing: # 77647268550 which comes from # # program8550 to more easily remember and press Send. The password is 000000. From the menu Network Select-> Mode Preference Select 1X Only. Click OK and you're ready to use your phone as a modem where you have signal on normal charges. To bind to the internet from the small of your handset menu, select Connect and if everything is OK, should be bound.

If you do not use EVDO and your WAP and the Internet in your phone will be limited to about 17KB / s. To unlock the true power of 3G networks follow the next steps after you have taken steps in section "Configure the phone to contact your laptop over Bluetooth":

1. Run the latest version of BitPim.
2. Go to the BitPim-> Preferences.
3. For Phone Type, select LG VX8550
4. Com port to enter / dev/cu.LGVX8550-BTDIAG-1 and click OK
5. From the View menu, select View Filesystem
6. Choose File System in the left pane and navigate to the folder / nvm / nvm
7. Right-click on nvm_data and choose Save. Save the file to your computer. Repeat step, save the file in second place for backup
8. Start 0xED and open one of the two nvm_data
9. At the end of the file on the right you will see XXXXXXXXXX@ dun.vzw3g.com two places where XXXXXXXXXX is your phone number. Now you need to change part of dun.vzw3g.com vzw3g.com. It is very important not to delete anything, but to rewrite and additional top 00. 16. Then choose Digital Only Hybrid and click OK

If you see EV and 1x in the box below the signal strength on your phone, in your area has EVDO. Now, when combing the Internet, either as a modem for a laptop or WAP, you can use speed to 70KB / s.
