How to create a secure partition easily on Windows 7

You keep sensitive documents on your computer and you do not want them falling into the wrong hands? With the freeware TrueCrypt , you can create a secure partition accessible directly from Windows Explorer where you can store all your important files.

This partition is in the form of a file on your hard drive whose contents are encrypted and impossible to retrieve. If this file falls into the wrong hands, you're certain that your files can not be recovered.

When you need to work with your score, you simply mount it with TrueCrypt as a disk drive, accessible directly from Windows Explorer. Of course, your password is necessary for this step. You can then add, modify or delete files like any other of your readers.

When you're done, simply unmount the drive that disappears from the explorer and is thus more accessible. Your files are protected!

    Download and install TrueCrypt:

TrueCrypt is free software you can download from here.
    • Once the download is complete, click Run.

    • Confirm the launch of the software.

    • Check the box I Accept and agreements to Be Bound By The license terms and click Accept.

    • Select Install and click Next.

    • Click the Install button.

    • Then click the Finish button.

    Using the secure partition:

The secure volume was created on your hard drive. To use it, you'll have the "mount" a partition in time. This partition will have a drive letter in Windows Explorer and you can use it like any other drive: USB flash drive, second hard drive, etc..
    • Whenever you want to use your secure partition, you must climb. In the TrueCrypt window, select the drive letter assigned to the partition, F: for example.

    • Click the File button.

    • Select secure file that you created and click Open.

    • Click Install.

    • Enter your password and click OK.

    • The secure partition is then accessible from Windows Explorer.

    • You can move your files and folders.

    • When you have finished working with the partition, click the Remove button of the window TrueCrypt. Know that the partition is automatically removed if you shut down your computer.

    • Note that you can put the volume file on your USB key secure to always carry with you or put it in a safe place. Secure all its contents will also be transferred.
