    Format the project in Microsoft Project

    To manage a project effectively, you must communicate and distribute project information. May prepare reports or presentations, information on a Web site. Microsoft Project to publish and view format and print reports as required of a person or group in particular.     Formatting a Gantt bar category

    To call attention to all tasks in a particular category, you can change the format of the Gantt bar representing that category in the Gantt Chart. For example, a category may include specific types of tasks, such as milestones, critical tasks or tasks that have been completed. Instead of manually selecting Gantt bars and format, you can create or modify a style bar. Any changes you make will affect all the style bars of the category.

    1. On the View menu, click Gantt Chart.
    2. On the Format menu, click Bar Styles.

    3. To modify an existing style in the Name field, click the name of the bar style.
    4. Click the Toolbars tab in the bottom of the Styles dialog box bar.
    5. To create a new style, click Show Task column and then click the arrow next to the selection to choose a new category such as criticism or Completed Tasks.
    6. If you are creating a new style, type your name in the Name field and then click the Toolbars tab.
    7. Under Part Start, Middle and End, select the shapes, patterns, types, and colors for the bar.
    8. Click OK.

    Tip: To change the format individual Gantt bar, select the task bar and click on the Format menu. Click the Shape tab of the bar and then change the format of the Gantt bar.


    To change the location and the text of an individual Gantt bar, select the task bar and click on the Format menu. Click the Text tab of the toolbar, select the location and the field to display from the dropdown list.

    Formatting a category of tasks in the task list

    To distinguish a category of tasks, for example, critical tasks, other tasks of the project, you can change the text format of all tasks in that category by changing the text style. You can also change the appearance of the row and column headings of the timescale and the text of the Gantt bar. You can also change text styles in any view, except in the Network Diagram view and form view. However, in some views can not see all the formatting options. The changes you make apply only to the current view.

    If the view contains information that requires urgent attention, such as date of completion of a task postponed, you can highlight this information formatted as an individual.

    1. On the View menu, click a sheet view such as Gantt Chart.
    2. On the Format menu, click Text Styles.
    3. In the Change box, click the type of information you want to change and then select the formatting options for that information.
    4. To change the format of other information without closing the dialog box, click a new type in the Change and then select the appropriate formatting options.
    5. Click OK.


    Suggestions:

    To change the format of an individual task, select the task, click Font on the Format menu and then select the formatting options for text. To quickly copy text formatting from one task to another, select the task you want to format copy, click Format Painter and then select the task you want to apply that format.

    • To change the font, font style, color and size of the text, click Font on the Format menu and then select the formatting to apply.
    • You can quickly apply character formatting such as bold, italic or underlined, using the Formatting toolbar. Select the text you want to format and click Bold, Italic or Underline.
    • To change the alignment of the text, click Align Left , Center or Align Right.


    Note: This format will not change if you change the data later. Will have to individually change the format that you added.

    Grid Format
    For the project can be read more easily, Microsoft Project allows you to display different types of grid. can choose which one to display and modify its format.
    1. On the View menu, click the view you want to change.
    2. On the Format menu, click Grid. 2.
    3. Select a name from the list Change grid line.
    4. Select a format style from the Type list and / or color.

    Formatting dependency lines

    1. Click the Format menu and select Layout.
    2. In the Links section select whether to see or not the lines.
    3. In the bars section select the Date Format, High Bar, etc.
    4. Click To concepts.


    Formatting the Network Diagram boxes
    The Network Diagram view provides a graphical interface where information from the task appears in individual boxes between the lines that represent their dependencies, and workflow. You can modify the verge of the pictures, the plot and the background color and text that contains, in order to make the presentation more attractive.

    1. On the View menu, click Network Diagram.
    2. On the Format menu, click Styles box.
    3. Select a name from the Settings list styles.

    5. Select from the list of data template a template to define what information in the task appears in the Network Diagram boxes
    6. Select from the list form, color and width for formatting the Border.
    7. Select from the list colors and patterns to format the Fund.
    8. Click OK.

    Tip : To change the appearance of a particular table in the Network Diagram box and then select the Format menu select Box and make your changes.
