    Windows 7 RC to RTM Updates x86 & x64

    In fact, the release candidate of Windows 7 appears to be better than some final version of predecessors with Service Pack. Therefore, an update will appear on the final version not absolutely necessary. Nevertheless, it is recommended strongly, because although optical nothing has changed, but certainly in hundreds if not thousands were reworked, small errors and also at safety. Do not forget, an RC is not exactly final, but just another beta release with nice name for it and in no way intended to be used productively. Due to the fact that one system that has an unsupported and the basic personal dislike of upgrades I still strongly recommend to make a clean start but to each his own and so far I have all those who have made an upgrade given the feedback. So do that at your own risk.

    Officially, the process of updating a Windows machine to Windows 7 is possible only from Vista. For those who have installed Windows 7 Windows 7 Beta or RC, it is possible to update your installation to RTM Windows 7 using a small tip. The process is not supported by Microsoft or recommended, but it works. It is already an ISO that you have your install of Windows 7. Then download the software from Microsoft MS USB / DVD Download Tools that can deploy this iso on a USB stick or DVD. The solution is to edit a file inside the Windows 7 DVD and do that you need to extract all the files that contains the Windows DVD Maker 7 on your hard disk.

    If you use an ISO image in Windows 7 for the installation progress, you can use 7-Zip utility that allows you to extract the ISO to a folder from drive. If you use a real DVD, you simply copy all files from the DVD to a folder on your hard drive. Once you have extracted the files, open the folder sources for the file cversion.ini. Make sure to install it on a USB key and then be able to edit files. Once that is in place on the USB drive, edit the source file cversion.ini and change the value of MinClient in 7100 or 7000.

    Once you open the file with Notepad cversion.ini, you will notice that the line MinClient (MinClient defines the minimum version number required to update a pre-release version of Windows 7) to a value of 7233.0, and MinServer (MinServer defines the minimum version number required for the migration of a pre-release version of Windows Server 2008 R2.) value of 7100, so you can understand why the update does not work. All you need do is change the value MinClient to a value less than or equal to 7100 for MinClient, for example you can change it in 7000 and do not forget to save the change. Save the changes and then run the setup.exe file in the root folder where you copied the files Windows 7. Your installation should normally begin, and the prompt window click Install Now. Once you reach this screen, choose the Upgrade option

    Re: Windows 7 RC to RTM Updates x86 & x64

    If you installed one or more language packs in Windows 7 BETA or RC , they will not be available in the RTM. In case of incompatibility issues with your applications, the wizard will notify you. You can remove all the applications that have compatibility issues, before you do the upgrade. At this point, the update should start working, and that you have to wait for her to take a long time. Fortunately there is a procedure to circumvent this block, and allows you to update Windows 7 RTM 7 RC installing Windows without losing data on the disk or partition. With the same procedure that I am describing, you can also update Windows 7 Beta.

    Easy Steps to Upgrade :

    If you upgrade to a version of Ultimate, you can take the next step. But if you want to upgrade to a version HOME or PRO, open the registry (Start -> Run -> regedit) and navigate to the HKLM \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ Current Version.

    Edit the value EditionID and ProductName through the Pro version:
    EditionID = Professional
    ProductName = Windows 7 Professional

    The Home version:
    EditionID = HomePremium
    ProductName = Windows 7 HomePremium

    Then run the installation directly from Windows to perform the update.

    Prepare a USB key with an active partition and here is the steps :

    1. Copy all files from the DVD of Windows 7 on the USB drive. The easiest way is to make the operation from the command prompt assuming that D: is the DVD player and Z:the USB key : XCOPY D: \ *.* / S / E / FU: \
    2. Once the files are copied from Windows Explorer display the contents of the USB
    3. Locate the file in the Sources folder cversion.ini
    4. Load under the Windows clipboard
    5. This contains two values: MinClient and MinServer. MinClient defines the minimum version number required to update a preliminary version of Windows 7. MinServer defines the minimum version number required for the migration of a prerelease version of Windows Server 2008 R2.
    6. You will find that if Microsoft does not allow installing the update from Beta / RC Windows 7, however it allows for the release candidates of Windows Server 2008 R2, which suggests that the process under Windows 7 is likely to be fairly reliable two systems sharing the same architecture.
    7. Change the line with the value MinClient (normally up to 7233) and modify it by placing it in 7000.
    8. Save the file.
    9. Start the installation of Windows 7 running Setup from the USB key and choosing the method updated.

    The final version does not update a previous installation of Windows 7 Beta or Windows 7 RC. But a tip overcomes this limitation and thus easily update these temporary versions to the final version. The easiest way is to prepare a USB stick containing a Windows 7 RTM "modified" to install the system more quickly from the key (it is the best solution for Netbooks and other machines without DVD drives). This is not a official update it just for user benefit and remember buy updating the same you might loose your system warranty. So this can be done at later period as Microsoft does not allows to modify the system files.

    Windows 7 RTM Update from Installation Disc.

    1. Open the ISO image of Windows 7 RTM with Daemon Tools (or similar)
    2. Copy the entire contents of the virtual disk into a folder on your hard disk
    3. Go to the subfolder Sources
    4. Open the file cversion.ini
    5. Change the value MinClient in 7000
    6. Save the changes to the file
    7. Start the setup.exe program contained in the copied folder on the HDD
    8. Choose the Upgrade option
    9. Proceed normally with the system installation.

    Now you can upgrade your free preview version of the much coveted Seven RTM. All without losing your data, settings and programs (except for compatibility issues). This procedure is not recommended by Microsoft because this can cause damage to your computer. So you must perform the same on your own risc.

    Windows 7 RTM Compatibility Patch

    While the official launch of Windows 7 is no longer a matter of few days note that two patches have recently emerged for the latter. This compatibility patch for the final version (RTM) of Windows 7, not the beta and RC as the other updates released by Microsoft in recent months. The first patch KB974431 and allows for reference, according to Microsoft, to improve stability and reliability of Windows 7. It fixes including problems with reading PDF files created by Office 2007, with the secondary displays and standby, with the program Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP), with playback of some files in Windows Media Player or with installation of certain certificates in Internet Explorer.

    The second patch, numbered KB974332, is it intended to improve the compatibility of Windows 7 with third-party applications with Alcohol 52%, ZoomText, Trend Micro Internet Security, PGP Desktop, Trend Micro VirusBuster and Windows Live Photo Gallery. Compatibility with Dell printer drivers V105, V305 and V505 has also been improved.

    Finally, note that these two updates are for both 32-bit editions (x86) editions of Windows 7 as 64 bit (x64) and even the operating system Windows Server 2008 R2.

    Download Windows 7 RTM Compatibilty Patch

    Microsoft has discontinued support for the first edition of Windows Vista with immediate effect. This ends exist only after a good three years of Mainstream Support phase for the RTM version. To further level of support services to include in full, have the users of Windows Vista RTM immediately to the first or rather the second service pack for the previous update of Windows 7 yet. Since Windows Vista RTM now has the End of Support reached, it is no longer on Windows Update supplied with new updates.

    There are therefore no more security updates for the product delivered, which may pose a risk for inexperienced users.

    The use of Windows Vista RTM is, of course, remain fully available. The user must however be aware that their operating system is vulnerable to future exploits, because no security updates may be more related. Especially in the business can support the end of Windows Vista RTM will be a problem. If you encounter any difficulties in the operation of so-equipped PCs, the support staff of Microsoft now offer no more assistance.
