How to use Windows Live Movie Maker

Windows Live Movie Maker, duly dubbed "Sundance" is a video creation / editing program that is part of Microsoft's Windows Live package ( http://download.live.com ). It is intended to replace Windows Movie Maker, which is currently included in Windows XP and Vista, so it is by default the Windows 7 video editing program.

According Microsoft, Windows Live Movie Maker is complete a very good alternative for Windows Movie Maker which focuses on the needs of Windows Live Photo Gallery users.

Re: How to use Windows Live Movie Maker

Once you have installed the software, open it and use the Add button to add video files of your own. You should see the preview of the video appears on the right side of the window. You can add more than one video so you can combine several videos into one.

Once a video is added, you can add visual effects such as transitions and color effects.

The Edit menu on the other hand allow you to add watermarks, text to video.

You can also mute the sound and replace it with another audio file. To do this, go to Edit then click on "mute".

Then return to the home and add background music.

When you are satisfied with the changes that you can import or publish the movie by clicking on one or other of two buttons.

Publishing will put your video file on the web so that the output will create a movie in native WMV format. You can choose to 640X480 or standard definition (DVD quality) or 320x240 for small portable devices that support WMV.

As it is in beta and intends to target only the market for basic video editing, it does not function like other expensive tools like video editing Sony Vegas and Adobe Premier. For its free price tag and basic editing, I guess it's a freeware OK. If she had a view frame by frame and more effects in his toolbox, he would have been a great tool.
