How to schedule your Windows 7 Startup

Your first instinct when you get up is to start your computer? Why not program automatically starts, as you made for you with your alarm clock? When planning to start your computer, you can also throw very heavy tasks in the middle of the night, such as backing up your important documents, the full antivirus scan of your computer, the compression of a database etc..

With the free WakeupOnStandby, you can easily wake up your computer and run the tasks of your choice. The only requirement for this to work, is not to turn off your computer as you normally do, but to put it into standby or hibernation (hibernation). In both cases, your computer is shut down, but in a mode where it can be awakened and restarted itself. It is this awakening that you could plan WakeupOnStandby.

At first, you must correctly configure shutdown functions of your computer to easily put on standby. Then just configure WakeupOnStandby with the date and time of awakening and tasks to perform. Note that you can program your computer to extinction once the tasks performed. Practice not to leave his computer on unnecessarily.

    Set standby:

By default, when you turn off your computer using commands on the Start menu, it is stopped. You can easily choose to save rather sleep. And if you frequently use this command, you can use it by default, instead of the Stop button.
    • Click the Start button and then click Control Panel.

    • Click System and Maintenance category.

    • Click Power Options.

    • In the left pane, click Select Action Power Button.

    • Scroll When I press the power button and select the Sleep option.

    • Then click the Save Changes button.

    • Then click on the Edit command settings under the currently selected.

    • Click the Edit command the advanced power settings.

    • In the window that opens, scroll down the list Power buttons and lid and power button on the Start menu.

    • Click in the Parameters section and select Hibernate.

    • Click OK and close the windows open.

    • Now when you click the Start button, the button Hibernate is automatically highlighted. Click above to save your session and shut down your computer.

    • Note that you can always turn off your computer normally or restart it using the commands that appear after you click the right arrow button to sleep the Start menu.

    Download and install WakeupOnStandby:

WakeupOnStandby is a free program you can download from here. The program comes in the form of an archive that you'll need to decompress. No installation required, you can then create a shortcut on the desktop to easily launch the software.
    • Once the download is complete, click the Open button.

    • Click Extract all files from the toolbar.

    • Change if necessary folder in which to extract the software files and click the Extract button.

    • Click the right mouse button on the file and choose the command wosb.exe Send To, Desktop (create shortcut).

    • A new shortcut is added to the desktop. Rename it if necessary by clicking it, pressing the F2 key and typing the new name.

    Scheduling start:

WakeupOnStandby can wake your computer from a hibernation. The software will allow you to choose the date and time of awakening, to define programs to execute and choose whether you want to restore your computer to sleep then.
    • WakeupOnStandby Start by double clicking its shortcut on the desktop.

    • At first launch, a warning window is open. Uncheck the Always ask before opening this file and then click Run.

    • Initially, set the date and time that you wake up your computer.

    • To turn the screen at the same time, check Turn on monitor ....

    • Then check the box Run the FOLLOWING file / program / web page WHERE computer wakes up and click the button ....

    • Select your hard drive the program or script to run when your computer is started by WakeupOnStandby. Click the Open button.

    • Specify if needed in the field Params parameters for implementing the selected program (to open a certain web page for example).

    • You can then choose what to do once the previous task is complete. If you woke up your computer to a night full backup, you can put in standby or stop it once it is completed. Check the box and put the Hibernate Hibernate, Shut-Down to stop. Do not check for doing nothing.

    • Below, you can wait some time before shutting down your computer. Click Pick and choose the date and time to wait or the number of hours, minutes or seconds to wait before stopping.

    • You can use the field FOLLOWING Run the file ... to run a program or script just before the termination of your computer.

    • To schedule a regular task, check the boxes to the days of the week on which execute it and the frequency of Commencement: Every week every week for example.

    • Click the Start button. WakeupOnStandBy is housed in the notification area. When you have finished working, turn your computer on standby.

    • It will be automatically started the day and hour specified in WakeupOnStandBy. Scheduled tasks will then be executed. Once the tasks performed, if you have chosen, the computer will then automatically turned off.
