In our case we follow the instructions to install the 3.0.12 version of VirtualBox in Ubuntu 9.04 and had no problems during installation. These are the commands that run on your system:
Code:
sudo-i
echo "deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian jaunty non-free ">> / etc / apt / sources.list
wget-q http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian/sun_vbox.asc -O-| sudo apt-key add -
apt-get update
apt-get install dkms-virtualbox 3.0
Once installed all you need to run VirtualBox is just starting the program. In my case the installed VirtualBox icon in the menu "Applications-> System Tools-> Sun VirtualBox" from my desktop.
The first time you start VirtualBox have that to accept the license and register the program (if you want). The first thing to do after these steps if you want to have everything in Spanish is to enter the menu "File-> Preference-> Language" and change the default language according to your need. After this, go into "File-> Preferences-> General" and change the value of "Default Folder hard" and "Default Folder machines" to the folders you like to use to record everything related to disks and virtual machines that square on VirtualBox.
To create our first virtual machine only have to click on the "New" or choose the menu "Machine-> New." Doing so will launch a wizard that will help us define the most important parameters of our virtual machine. The first thing we have to do is choose a name for the VM you are creating and select the operating system we will install in it. In our case we call the machine "Ubuntu 9.10" and choose the OS "Linux-> Ubuntu (64bit)".
Then we have to choose how much memory you have available our virtual machine. Be careful not to choose more memory than you can assign in your computer. This memory is used by the virtual machine when running and will not be available in the main machine running the virtual. In our example we have a computer with 8GB of memory so we can easily assign 2GB to the virtual. The next step is to create a new virtual hard disk. We created it with a fixed size, we call Ubuntu_9.10 and assign a size of 10GB.
Finally you have that to accept the options you have chosen to create the virtual disk. And VirtualBox will create the virtual machine that you have defined.
On the left side of the window you have the virtual machine that you have already created the right settings for that machine. Can you change the different sections by clicking on them. In our example we will click on the section "Screen" to increase the video memory allocated to our virtual machine and enable 3D acceleration.
