Most people do not take what they can do to protect their data if their laptop is lost, stolen, or simply a bad hard drive crashes or corrupts data on the disk. Here are some simple users can take to reduce risks by safely losing important files.
Download your e-mail :
Store a copy of your e-mail on the mail server of your company. Most email software allows you to store a copy on the server. Outlook is the case, for example. Set this option in your settings and allow you to download messages to multiple computers.
Virus and Spyware Protection :
Use an anti-virus software package, and protect your system with spyware. It is a stage all users must do to protect their computers. Viruses are everywhere on the internet, websites doubtful this e-mail from your Aunt Mildred just had to send cute. Be smart and invest in viruses and spyware.
CDs are expensive :
CD or DVD backup Use promptly critical files and store the CDs in a safe place. Make a weekly backup of your important files. If you have rewritable CDs, you can then use the same a few times, but it would be better not to reuse them too. CDs have problems too after the time that may cause you need to recover data and but it is much less costly than recovering data from hard disk.
