How to configure a POP account in SeaMonkey

How to configure a POP for Yahoo?

You need two things: enable POP access from the Web interface of Yahoo! and configure a POP account in SeaMonkey.

To enable POP access from the Web interface of Yahoo!, She logs on to your account and go to Mail Options, POP Access and re-shipping. Brand hence the choice "Web and POP Access" and, if desired, configure additional options associated. While you're there, you'll see a link titled "View POP settings" and open a separate tab. Do not forget to save the changes to webmail settings.

Having done this, you must create an email account in SeaMonkey, indicating it is a POP account, and pay attention to the following values, you have to make the page open in a separate tab as you have indicated in the previous step:
    • E-mail address (page 2 of the wizard): Mail on POP settings from Yahoo!.

    • Name Server (page 3 of the wizard): Incoming mail (POP3) in the POP settings of Yahoo!.

    • Incoming User Name (page 4 of the wizard): Account name / user in the POP settings for Yahoo, without the @ yahoo ....

Once created the account, you must go to configure the SMTP server specific Yahoo! (we assume you already have an SMTP server). To create additional SMTP server:

    • Log in to Edit → Mail Account Settings and news ...

    • Select Outgoing Server (SMTP) from the list on the left.

    • In the right pane choose Add ...

    • Choose a description, and in the Server field enter the value of the outgoing mail server (SMTP) in the POP settings of Yahoo!.

    • Check "Use name and password".

If you want to use SSL, go to the Yahoo Mail with insurance.

Confirm the data and close the Mail Account Manager.

How to configure a POP / IMAP for Gmail?

First, note that Gmail does not provide assistance to SeaMonkey as your mail client. However, it provided assistance to Thunderbird, which shares much common code with SeaMonkey, so it probably works without incident.

To configure a POP account in SeaMonkey with which you have access Gmail activate your Gmail account and create a POP account using the settings that Gmail suggests.

To configure an IMAP account in SeaMonkey to access Gmail that you have to create an IMAP account using the settings that Gmail suggests.

How to configure a POP account to Hotmail / Windows Live?

Since January, 2009 depending on the country, you can access your Hotmail account using standard protocols (POP, SMTP). The configuration according to this press release of Windows Live, is:
    • Username: full email address (eg abcd@hotmail.com).

    • Password: to your Windows Live ID.

    • POP3 server: pop3.live.com. It is necessary, in the "Security Settings", tick the SSL option (which will change the port to 995) and the box "Use secure identification.

    • SMTP Server: smtp.live.com. It is necessary, under "Security and identification", check "Use name and password, and check the SSL option. However, according to the information in the document referenced above, make sure that TCP port number used is 25 (you can see that data in the top of the window SMTP server settings SeaMonkey).

If the above configuration does not work to send messages using SMTP, as one of the respondents in the notes to the Windows Live news shown above, you might try configure the SMTP server as it did this person so that if it works :
    • SMTP Server: smtp.live.com.

    • Port: 587.

    • Security and identification:

    • Tick Mark "Use username and password.

    • Username: full email address (eg abcd@hotmail.com).

    • Highlight the "TLS".
