    Streaming Multimedia Contents from gaming Console

    You have a game console Wii, PS3 or Xbox 360? These consoles can be accessed via the Internet to play from home with the world. With the free Winamp Remote, you can use your Internet connection to play on your console the multimedia content stored on your computer! By turning your PC into media server, Winamp Remote enables you to access a list of your MP3, WMA, OGG and your DivX and other video files on your console and start playing the file you want. It will then be distributed by your computer, read streaming on the console and displayed on your TV. Advantage: no codec is necessary!

    Of course, your computer must stay on for that and be connected to the Internet while playing. To ensure high throughput and smoother videos, ADSL broadband is required. Playback of multimedia files with Winamp Remote is compatible with the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii.

    Download and Install Winamp Remote:

    • First of all you need to install Winamp Remote that can be downloaded from here.
    • Save the file to your hard drive.
    • Once the download completes, run it.
    • Confirm the launch of the setup by clicking the Run button.
    • Select French then click OK.
    • Click the Next button and then click Accept.
    • Then click 3 times on the Next button.
    • In step Maximize check Winamp Winamp Remote @ then click the Install button.
    • Once installation is complete, click Close.
    • You can close the window the Winamp player that appears.



    Enabling the Winamp Remote Service:
    To access your music and movies from your console, you must activate the service Winamp Remote on your computer.To do so:-
    • Winamp Remote Start by clicking the Start button, click All Programs, then Winamp Remote Winamp Remote.
    • The service is then initiated. If you are behind a firewall, allow Winamp Remote to be accessible and the Internet.
    • In the window that appears, open the tab on Wii and PS3.
    • In the Create your account, choose a username, a password and enter your email address. Then click the Next button.
    • Once installation is complete, click the Try button.
    • Your browser is opened on your media sharing interface.
    • If nothing is displayed, the connection to your computer is impossible.
    • Then check the configuration of your firewall. Note that you may have to open TCP port 80 on your box.

    After enabling the Winamp Remote services, its now time to configure multimedia files. You can specify which folders are your music and videos will be available on your console. Here is how to do that:-
    • Click the right button of the Winamp Remote icon in the taskbar and choose the Settings button.
    • In the Media tab, you can set your folders containing your music and videos which you can access. Click the Add button.
    • Select the folder containing your video and then click Open.
    • Click OK.
    • Repeat for your music. Finally, click on the OK button.


    Thats it. Now your gaming console can access the Internet, and can connect to media center that is on your computer.

    • Start your Wii console. Open the Internet Channel.
    • Click the Start button. Click Enter a web address.
    • Enter the web address winamp.orb.com and click OK.
    • Then enter your username and password created with Winamp Remote. Check the boxes Remember me and Remember me for not having to enter this information each time. Click the Login butt
    • You are now connected to the interface of your multimedia center. Click Audio.
    • Click Browse Folders.
    • The list of songs and files located on your computer is displayed. You can use it. Click on Any play.
    • Reading all the pieces of the file begins.
    • The Video menu lets you access the same way with movies from your computer.
