Re: How to Change Windows Password from Ubuntu?

Yes it is possible to do it but the process is too long but I will try to explain it by step by step:
    Step1:
First of all you must have Read and Write access to NTFS partition on which your windows is installed.
    Step2:
Now install NTFS GUI Tool, you can do this by running the following command in the terminal window “sudo apt-get install ntfs-config”.
    Application-System Tools NTFS configuration Tools
Now you have to tick the NTFS partition where window is installed.
You can see the partition as /dev/sda2 /dev/sda3
After that in the next window you have tick the “Enable Write Support for Internal Device.”

After this you window partition is mounted xp.
    Step 3
Now open each of them and look for the window folder. After that execute the following command in the terminal window.
“sudo apt-get install chntpw” without codes.

    Step4
Now came climax of all this process means changing password. The windows password is written in the SAM file which is located in the Windows/System32/config.
Now you have to change the Windows/System32/config directory to cd/media/xp/Windows/System32/config
After that list all the files in that directory by using ls command or typing ls command in the terminal window. It will display all the files present in that directory. You have make sure that SAM file is present in your system.
Now for seeing the list of users type this command.
    chntpw SAM-l

For changing the password of the administrator account type the following command.
    chntpw SAM

Now just follow the instruction which comes on the terminal window.
