    How to configure eMule

If you don't know how configure eMule, As you may find it difficultly of have been something wrong that you do not lower the speed limit your bandwidth, because sometimes you'll find several options in which you do not know which to choose. Here's how to make the configuration this program correctly, using all its parameters and options so that you remove all the juice to downloads by eMule.

    * As a first step you need to download a emule mod: A modified version of Mule, which functions to add various options and also provides a performance improvement program. We will continue downloading eMule 0.49 which we will decompress in a folder through call Phoenix. Other plugins such as Emule Plus 1.1g or MorphXT 7.6 in which other options were added (not very useful in shaping our eMule).

    * If we had done before installing any version of eMule different from what we must go to the download folder Config installing Previous eMule and copy the following files in the folder Config of New eMule we have lowered "Phoenix" clients.met, known.met, preferences.dat, server.met (I recommend using it), And statistics.ini in category. You may need to make a backup of the file which contains preferences.ini port configuration, folders and more.

Now that we have our fully installed emule must begin with the configuration. We are going to indicate which fields to fill in the menus and select settings.

    1. General: We must put our nickname, and / or name, then select the language you want. Finally tick the option "Start Minimized" and click on the button that says eD2K links.

    2. Show: Here you must dial the 4 options listed on the menu Store CPU usage and Memory. Then we will find a button called Reset. In which we are going to click to delete the list or record of what we have for the past.

    3. Connection: This is one of the points on which you should pay close attention, because from here depends on download performance. To find your speed can make a speed test and apply the data to the program with the following table:

    Login Capacity (D / S) Limit (D / S)
    512/128kbps 64/16 50/10
    1024/300kbps 128/37 100/20
    2048/300kbps 256/37 230/20

    4. After finishing the settings of the speed we will continue introducing the series of ports to use. In this case we will use port TCP 4500This port is Recommended not be blocked by the ISP. Continuing UDP will place 4511. Next we must unlock the ports by clicking on the option, Open these ports on internal WinXP firewall. If we have some kind of external firewall to Windows must enter these ports and unlock the same thing we do if we have some type of router which is necessary to unblock the ports.

    5. The next step is to enter the desired number of sources per file that we will choose 400 and that is a very significant number, which indicates the connection limit we will select 600. Let's put options Autoconnect to start and Reconnect losing sessionThis to have a best eMule performance when we're not sitting on our machine so everything is a bit more automated. Which shows the options Kad and ED2K Let's put the two. If for some reason eMule shows a windows error we will decrease the connections limit from 600 to a lower value to not display this error.

    6. Directories: Continuing with this menu we will select the folders you wish to make available other users for downloading the files you are they contain. We must also choose the folder to store the files that we download, if you have really selected a folder before you do not need you to do this for new.

    7. Phoenix Extreme : Finally we have made webcache settings where we will select the option that gives us the Activate Webcache downloads where we introduce the following address: Proxy1-webcacheproxys.cjb.net and port 3128.

We have now completed all the steps of shaping our eMule. Finally just choose a server to connect and now whether to try the emulator to see how much it has improved with this configuration.

    Re: How to configure eMule

Hey Pyrotechnic, thank you for your detailed steps to configure eMule. I have always refrained myself from using eMule as i was never able to configure it properly, which is why i was never getting good download speed while using eMule. because of this reason i shifted to Bit Torrent software which is also a very good software to download files. And best of all it does not requires any kind of settings or configuration. but now as you have provided with the necessary configuration, i would definitely try to do the settings and check how eMule performs after the settings. Anyways thank you a lot. You work is appreciated.
