How to Convert text to graphics in PowerPoint presentations

Make your graphs with Excel

With the new SmartArt tools in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, you do not need to be professional graphic designer to make your presentations more attractive. You can choose from a wide range of integrated arrangements to get your message or your ideas more effectively.

Here are the steps:

1. Open your PowerPoint presentation and click the box to the slide that contains the information you want to convert graphic.


2. Press Home Tab - In group Paragraph, Click Covert to SmartArt.

3. In the gallery, click on the desired layout for your SmartArt graphic.


The gallery contains layouts for SmartArt graphics that are better adapted to bulleted lists. To view all layouts, click Other SmartArt.

4. Click on the desired layout for your SmartArt graphic. The text of your slides is automatically formatted and organized according to the chosen layout. You can easily make changes to your new SmartArt graphic.
  • To change colors, click on the box containing the graphic and then under the tab CreatedSelected button Colors.
  • To change the style of your graphic to add a line style, bevel, or a 3D appearance (Figure 3), select one of SmartArt StylesAlso available under the tab Created.

New tools for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 lets you create professional-looking presentations more easily than before since you can now convert your text appealing graphics.

Before you create your SmartArt graphic, visualize what type and layout are best for displaying your data. What do you want to convey with your SmartArt graphic? Do you want a certain look? Since you can quickly and easily switch layouts, try different layouts (across types) until you find the one that best illustrates your message. Your graphic should be clear and easy to follow. Experiment with different types by using the table below as a starting point. The table is intended to help you get started and is not an exhaustive list.
