Here's how to conserve network bandwidth and improve response times and user experience in Windows 7 that has a new network technology called Transparent Caching. This is only available tips on professional and Ultimate versions of the system. Here's how to do it:
Microsoft has included a new feature in Windows 7, called "Transparent Caching" that keeps cached on the post of any file accessed from a server as this file has not changed either the server or user. This mode of operation, results in a drastic reduction in network bandwidth and faster response times, which is not active by default.
It must be manually enabled via Group Policy:
- Open the Start menu in Windows 7
- Enter Strategy In the search box
- Select Modify Group Policy
- Go to Computer Configuration
- Then in Administrative Templates
- Then in Network
- Then in Offline Files
- Locate the line Enable Transparent Caching and double-click it.
- Select Enabled then click Apply and OK.
- Restart the PC to activate the change.
You are done, now enjoy the improved network performance.
