Please click on the appropriate link to your system (32-bit or 64-bit), not to use the wrong version. I myself use the i386 version (32-bit) because my system is Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope 32-bit versions. When finished downloading this extension, restart Shiretoko and you're ready to use Google Gears. Oh yes, better DO NOT USE Google Gears on PC / laptop is used together (sharing) such as in cafes, etc..
To try out the power of Google Gears, you can open the web service owned by Google, like Google Reader or Google Mail (GMail). If you notice on the main page, at the top right corner next to the e-mail address you have small arrows green. Click on the arrow, and the system will download some data to be stored into your hard disk. Yes, you are now entered into the offline mode, so you can read e-mails on GMail and RSS feeds on Google Reader when offline without the need for internet connection! If you are connected to the internet, you can click on the arrow again and you will return to online mode. The system will synchronize the data to obtain the latest updates.
