Install Windows 7 Beta on a Netbook through bootable USB drive

Hi, there.Hope you guys are freaking out.Have you realized that you can't install it on your small Netbook like Acer Aspire One, Asus Eee PC,since they lacks DVD drive.You can follow the procedure below to get a fresh instalation of Windows 7 on your netbook

Create a bootable USD Drive

Get a 8GB USB drive.Insert it to computer and open the command prompt as administrator.and get the drive number by typing:

* diskpart
* list disk

Now format the drive by typing this

* select disk 1
* clean
* create partition primary
* select partition 1
* active
* format fs=NTFS
* assign
* exit

Mount the Windows 7 beta iso using Daemon Tools or similar.and navigate to the boot directory

* cd E:\boot

Using bootsect, we’ll create the USB drive a bootable NTFS drive, ready for a Windows 7 image

* bootsect /nt60 G:

exit the command prompt. Copy the installation files from the mounted Windows 7 iso to the USB drive by explorer method

Install on the Netbook

* Insert in the USB drive and turn on the netbook
* On start up press <F12> to select the bootable drive
* Select the USB drive and press return
* The netbook will boot from the USB drive and the installation will begin
* Install as normal.

re: Install Windows 7 Beta on a Netbook through bootable USB drive

I attempted this method but did not work for me so all i do is format the stick like above then just highlight the files in my Win 7 dvd and copy them over to the usb in usual way.if you've got an asus board just press F8 at boot and select the usb from the list..No need to go into the bios and modify anything
