Power Eject gadget allows you to manage any external drive

You know, it is inappropriate to disconnect a USB drive suddenly with out ejecting before. Windows comes with many tool in system notification area but it is impractical. Here, instead, is a gadget capable of releasing your USB drives with a click and eject your CD and DVD.

Power Eject is a small gadget to eject any external drive (except eSATA), USB or optical disk (CD, DVD, etc.).
    • First, download and install the Power Eject gadget.
    • Once the gadget installed in Windows component, place the mouse over and click on the configuration of the gadget.
    • Check the box Enable Detection of Fixed/External USB Hard disks if you want the gadget also mark the drives. Otherwise it will only display USB sticks and scanners. Click OK.
    • The gadget displays a popup menu with the different units recognized.

In conclusion, before removing a USB drive, select it in the gadget menu, and click Eject.

Note: The gadget seems to work with 32-bit editions of Windows Vista and Windows 7 in the version 1.0 (it does not install on Windows 7 64-bit for example).

It also has 4 buttons with the following roles:
    • EJECT: Ejects the CD / DVD is selected in the menu (or prepare your USB selected to be withdrawn).
    • INFO: Shows information about the selected unit
    • BROWSE: To open Windows Explorer directly on the unit selected in the menu
    • REFRESH: Sometimes, after the addition of a USB key, it may not appear in the gadget menu. Click on this button to force its recognition.
