Open Facebook in a Vista Gadget

Facebook is an incredibly popular. But it remains relatively demanding of ever having to open its browser to monitor the activities of his friends, messages, etc.. With a small gadget, the bulk of Facebook will now always within sight, on the desktop of your Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Facebook Explorer is a gadget compatible with the component (the "Sidebar") Vista and the Windows 7 desktop. It allows you to quickly access your messages, photo galleries, events, or to update your status and monitor that of your friends without leaving the desktop or open the Web browser.

- Install Facebook Explorer and then Download, Open, Run and Install.

The gadget will appear on your desktop. We will have to begin by completing the authorization phase of access to the Facebook service. It involves 5 steps listed one by one by the gadget which simply follow the instructions carefully:

1) Facebook must give you an authorization code. Click "1. Click here to generate login code". The browser opens a special page on Facebook. Click Generate. Facebook displays a code to 6 characters on the screen. Select it and copy it. Close the browser.

2) You revisit on the gadget. Paste the code copied in step 1 in Section 2. Copy and paste code login here. Click Next.

3) You must now validate the authorization to access the updated status. Click on "3. Click here to enable status updates". The web browser opens. Click "Allow updates status". Close the browser.

4) Back on the gadget, ask the permission to read the statuts of your friends by clicking on "4. Click here to display friend activity". The web browser opens. Click "Allow Access". Close the browser.

5) Click Done. The gadget initialization is complete.

The gadget now displays the status of your various friends.

Note at the bottom of the gadget, the presence of 2 buttons:
- [Me] provides access to editing functions and status information on the number of pokes, messages, or invitations received.
- [Friends] provides access to the latest status list maintained by your friends.

To improve the readability of the lists:

Click the button configuration gadget. Open the Options tab. Select "Tallest" in the Popup menu "Height Gadget" to reveal much information. Then set the time update (every gadget Update) over 10 minutes. Validate by OK.

To update your Facebook status:

Click the [me] down. Note that your current status is displayed at the top of the gadget. Click it to switch to edit mode. Enter a new status message. Then click Change to confirm.
