    enhance Windows xp shutdown speed

This tweak eliminates the time XP waits before automatically closing any running programs when you give it the command to shutdown.
    - type Regedit on your Run

    -type 'Regedit' and click ok

    -locate 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\'

    -Select WaitToKillAppTimeout

    -Right click and select 'Modify'

-Change the value to 1000a nd click ok

    - select 'HungAppTimeout'

-Right click and select 'Modify' Change the value to '1000' Click 'OK'

    Now again locate 'HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop\WaitToKillAppTimeout

-Right click and select 'Modify' Change the value to 1000 Click OK

    - select 'HungAppTimeout'

-Right click and select 'Modify' Change the value to '1000' Click OK

    locate 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\WaitToKillServiceTimeout

-Right click and select 'Modify' Change the value to '1000' Click OK

I know Softwares that automate this and is obviously not a recommended method to shutdown Windows. as far as my concern It is better to slow the shutdown and let all programs to close themselves. It is bizarre that you would keep getting prompted to get away applications. If that comes with difficulties, then something is wrong in the installation.

Well I saw lots of tips to speed up Windows XP but to speed up shutdown is the firs time I am seeing and I agree with Bhagesh... You should Speed up things by removing unneccessary things... Killing running programs to shut down faster is not at all recommended...

BTW if any one interested in some real good XP speed up tips then you can see the three part tutorial at following location --
