Multimedia streaming in Windows Media Player 12

With Windows 7, Windows Media Player 12 allows you to stream all media content not only to other machines on the network but also to a machine outside the network but connected to the Internet. So wherever you travel around the world, you retain access to your photos, music and even videos and TV recordings.

With more practical and flexible file transfer, media streaming in Windows 7 and Windows Media Player 12 allows access to multimedia content in any network condition, and even to have safe access through the Internet from anywhere in the world!

Here is how to implement this feature:

A: Multimedia on your main machine

1. Start "Windows Media Player"
2. Switch to "Library" if not already done
3. Deploy the menu "Stream continuously"
4. Click "Allow Internet access to personal media"
5. Click on "Link Online ID"
6. Click "Add a supplier of online ID"
7. The web browser opens. Select "Windows Live" (for the moment, it is the only web browser which Windows 7 identifies). You will be redirected to the download site to retrieve the Microsoft Connection Wizard Windows Live ID. Download the appropriate ID manager for your Windows 7 (the 32-bit or 64-bit version). Click "Run" to install it. Close all instances of web browser.
8. Once the wizard Live ID is installed, you will return to the window Association Live ID profiles. Click "Link ID online". Now enter the login and password for your Live ID. The system will then test the connection.
9. Your Live login ID is then associated with your Windows 7 login. Click "OK".
10. This should automatically return you to the "Internet Home Media Access" box. Then click on "Allow Internet access to personal media."

B. The machine is now ready to broadcast streaming content via the Internet.

Now take a machine connected to the Internet (but not connected to your LAN).

Open Windows Media Player on this machine and repeat steps 1 through 10 discussed above.

When finished, wait a minute. Under Section "Other libraries" you should see the name of your multimedia PC at home!

Extend the tree and find that you can access photos, music and even videos and TV recordings!
