Partially disable UAC (User Account Control)

The UAC (U ser A ccount C ontrol) is a process used by Windows Vista, to run by default, applications with limited rights of a limited user, regardless of the level of privilege of user running the application. If the program requires a privilege level higher, a warning is sent to the user.

Repeated warnings from UAC bore you but you do not want to disable them for security?

It is possible to retain partial disabling protected mode for Internet Explorer 7

To do this:

• Open the Registry Editor.
• Go to the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ System.
• Find the value ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin.
• Right-click to edit and set its value to 0.

Modify the following local security policy to enable UAC for built-in Administrator account:
Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local
Policies\Security Options\User Access Control: Admin Approval Mode for the
Built-in Administrator account
