| Ways to make UAC less annoying on Vista
The UAC(User Account Control) system in Windows Vista provides a great security feature but it becomes really annoying when UAC prompts every couple of seconds when you are trying to make some configuration changes... There are some ways you can make UAC less annoying on Windows Vista - > Disable UAC Entirely > Auto-Accept UAC Prompts for Administrators Only > Disable the Blackout Screen (Secure Desktop) > Create Administrator Mode Shortcuts Without UAC Prompts 1) Disable UAC Entirely You can completely disable UAC from your system. But by this way, you will lead to less secure system. So be prepared for this before disabling UAC completely. To completely disable UAC - click here or Open Control Panel, and type "UAC" into the search box - A link for "Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off" is seen. Uncheck the box for "Use User Account Control (UAC)", and click the OK button. Reboot your system for the changes to take effect |

| Re: Ways to make UAC less annoying on Vista 2) Auto-Accept UAC Prompts for Administrators Only This method allows you to leave UAC enabled, but disable the prompts from showing up under your administrator account. To making these settings, you need to enable "Elevate without prompting", so you never see the prompting again. This method is more secure than disabling UAC entirely, because an application can still run this way in a protected mode. 3) Disable the Blackout Screen (Secure Desktop) The screen that blacks out everything other than the UAC prompt is the most annoying part of UAC because it usually takes forever to show up, and depending on your video card it can do weird things with your desktop. You can disable the secure desktop feature but leave the UAC prompts the way they are. This is potentially a security hole as well, since an application could fraudulently "click" the prompt for you. (Secure desktop prevents applications from doing this). |

| Re: Ways to make UAC less annoying on Vista 4) Create Administrator Mode Shortcuts Without UAC Prompts This option helps us to disable prompts without disabling in anyway....For this, you need to setup a few shortcuts that bypass UAC entirely. This is especially useful if you open a particular administrator-mode application a dozen times per day. To enable this option, use task scheduler to launch the applications, and tell task scheduler to run the task. This is more secure than the previous other options, since only the special shortcut will bypass UAC. |
