    Disable automatic restart after updates in Windows xp

    Windows has updates for the smooth functioning of system. If it is turned on, you will get pop-ups for updates. When you install windows updates, you need to restart your system. You can disable this option by following the steps given below:
    • Click on Start button
    • Then click Run
    • Type gpedit.msc in the box
    • Press Enter to open Group Policy
    • Expand Local Group Policy (click '+' sign)
    • Then expand Computer Configuration
    • Then Administrative Template
    • Double Click on Windows Components folder
    • Then double click on Windows Update in right pane
    • Right click on "No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Updates Installations"
    • Select Properties
    • Then click on Enable
    • Click Apply and OK

    Now close the windows and accept everything on prompt by clicking yes and save. But restart your computer now for the changes you made.

    You can do this simply with the help of Command Prompt. To disable automatic restart after updates from command prompt follow these steps:
    • Go to Start
    • Then click Run
    • Type cmd and press Enter
    • In the command prompt type "sc stop wuauserv” (without quotes)
    • Press Enter
