How to read hotmail messages from Mozilla Thunderbird

I'll show you how to configure your mail client so you can check your mail from a Hotmail e-mail client.
The procedure will be explained for Mozilla Thunderbird.

    Configuring Thunderbird

    To begin, launch Mozilla Thunderbird.
Go to Tools>> Account Settings and click Add Account.
Select Email account if not already done so, and then click Next.
Enter your name and your hotmail address (your msn address), then click next.
Fill the window then click next.
Fill the field with your full address and click Next.
In the window that follows, enter a name for your account (John, House, MSN ...).
After that, a summary of your personal information is displayed.
    Press OK.
Then in the Windows Settings of accounts, click "Server Settings" under your account.
In the right frame, put complete information.
(replacing @ hotmail you by your real hotmail address).
Then go to "Outgoing Server", later in the white box.
Now, on the right of the window, one or more SMTP servers are listed.
    Click the Add button.

Fill in the fields like this:
    1. In description, type a short description of your account.
    2. In server name, enter smtp.live.com.
    3. In Port, enter 587.
    4. Check the box User name and password.
    5. In Username, enter your hotmail address.
    6. Finally, select TLS, if available to use a secure connection.

    And validate.
Select the server that you set, and then click Use Default.
    And its done!
To check your new messages, click the Record button.

Also, if it's possible to access the account via POP3 in Tbird, you'll have to configure the account per the settings here: http://liveunplugged.spaces.live.com...90CA!171.entry

Personally, I'd test accessibility via POP3 in an MS mail client first (e.g., Outlook Express; Windows Mail in Vista; Outlook, if available).
