How to burn an image of CD/DVD of Toast file format

The question is often found on the forums. How to burn an image CD/DVD of Toast file format on Windows PC? The answer is not simple because Windows does not officially support this format. It exists and is free ...

The Toast format is an image format of CD/DVD similar to ISO, but the owner. Toast image files are produced on Apple Macintosh (Mac OS9 such as Mac OS/X) by a signed CD recording software called Roxio and Toast.

But exactly why Toast to burn an image on a PC? Some Mac users (including Mac laptops) may be required to burn a CD on a PC restoration or relocation for Mac down. This is the most frequent and therefore the forums are full of users seeking a solution to burn an image on a PC Toast.

The problem is that the format is very Toast and can take different forms. Thus, some users may simply advise rename the file ".Toast" in ".Iso". The solution works but sometimes in a very limited number of cases. Especially if the file Toast is a CD image format autoboot Mac, or if a backup copy of a CD of the operating system Mac OS/X, rename Toast not work.

There is one solution. By various tests, we found that the software came Infra Recorder to burn the files ".Toast" submitted to him although he does not officially support this format (including images Toast in HFS +).

    - Download the Infra Recorder software and install it.

    - Run the software. Under Vista and Windows 7, you must run Infra Recorder by clicking the right button on its icon and selecting "Run as administrator".

    - Insert a blank CD or DVD into the drive.

    - Click the Write Image.

    - In the selection box of the file (Open), deploy the popup "File Types" and select "All Files (*.*)".

    - Select the image file ".Toast" to burn.

    - Make sure the drive is selected and choose a burning speed average.

    - Check that the "Session-At-Once (SAO)" is selected in the menu Write Method.

    - Click OK to start burning.

    - Once the burned CD do not be surprised if it is not legible or appears blank in Windows. This is normal if the original CD was a pure Mac (ie non-ISO).

    - There are more than remove the CD from the PC and place it in your Mac ...
