    how to install software automatically on a partition?

    hi,
    I wanted to know how to automatically install software on the partition that I created and not in c: primary partition that contains the operating system without having to define the path by replacing the "C" by a "D"!

    Hi,

    Simply apply a small trick in the registry:

    Start>> Run, type:
    Regedit
    => Click Ok

    1 ° / Make a backup

    File>> Export
    Verify that the Range radio button is on the export "All".

    As the "Save" and saves it on your desktop.

    2 ° / Changing the value ProgramFilesDir

    Click the "+" to open the various trees, until:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion]

    Double click on the value ProgramFilesDir to change its value:

    D: \ Program Files

    This should give you this result:

    => Restart the PC

    This should normally operate

    Hi,

    Very interesting tip, I understand that this is possible in the file but can this be done if it was already full of programs in the folder "Program Files"

    ie:

    a) Change the key, and then do a "Cut" of "Program Files" to "C" for "Paste" to "D"

    b) Or, conversely, the cut / paste first and then the edit key then

    c) Or, can there be two "Program Files" a C: and one on D "and the system scans to find the two small

    Or neither a) nor b) nor c) are possible.

    It is true that this is a trick on a PC clean.

    Indeed, it would change the place of. If the program (not all) wrote in the registry to find information, he wrote such a path (eg C: \ Program Files \), if one moves on D:, In fact, this key can set a default folder for installing programs, and avoids handling simply change the directory.
    When a program is installed it looks (or not) this key and puts its value in the default installation.

    I take the case of my PC, I have two Program Files, one for the application called "System": Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer ...
    And a second Program Files to D:, for games and other applications.

    If we wanted to move a program from C: to D:, it should first uninstall cleanly (to delete the registry key pointing to C and reinstall on D:.
    I said that certain program does not have value in the BDR and can be moved without worries.
