Deleting Smartphone Data before Selling it

It happens many time when you want to give, sell or lend your phone to someone and do not want others to access your data. It is recommended that you must delete all confidential data it contains, including your banking information, personal messages, contact numbers, etc. This is possible with all smart phones to wipe out your data completely and ensuring that the same is not accessed by others. This is same as resetting your mobile phones. The phones settings and information are wiped out completely.

Requirements for Deleting all Data from Smartphone
    • Your Phone
    • USB Connection
    • PC Suite Software (if any)
    • Appropriate Drivers for the Phone

Wiping Data from iPhone, iPod touch or iPad

To reset your Apple mobile, you need a computer connected to the Internet and iTunes installed in int. If you are doing this for first time then you will need to run the setup of iTunes and also you will need to configure iTunes in your system. But if you had synchronized this already then this is not needed to do. Your device must also be equipped with a SIM card and that must be in working condition. Finally, make sure the battery is fully charged because the procedure can be lengthy (depends on the data) and, in case of unexpected shutdown during the operation, you may have to reinstall the OS. So it is more important that your phone does not shutdown in between.

The procedure id for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad

Open the Settings menu > General > Reset.

To delete your personal settings from the phone completely :

Choose Reset all settings to erase all.

Select Erase All Content and Settings and confirm by clicking the Clear button. Time is not an issue with newer phone models but if we talk about older models then the same procedure may take several minutes or several hours. Do not disconnect or stop the process. If you do so, then you might need to restore your OS back again and that will be more tougher. Then launch iTunes, connect your phone and follow the reset instructions. For Apple products this is the only only procedure available for this processor and after that only all data will be permanently unrecoverable.

    For Blackberry Phones

Deleting your personal information from a BlackBerry is much easier than what you think. And the best part here is that it can be done without PC also. The same way, this procedure is also time consuming.

Go in Menu > Display options > Select Security Options > Cleaning and security.

Then from there tick these three boxes: E-mails, contacts, etc. Applications installed by the user and in Media Card. This last option is activated when a flash memory card has been inserted into your BlackBerry. In the text box just below, type in tiny blackberry. Finally, click Clean.

    For Andriod Smartphones

On an Android smartphone, the data are recorded on two independent platforms. The first is the memory card of the phone is usually called as microSD and the second one is the phone memory of the smartphone. To completely reset your Android, you will need to must erase both these media's separately. Start by reformatting the SD card:

    For Memory Card

Press the Menu button > Settings > Memory Card > For phone memory > Disable SD

Once you do that then click Format SD card. Confirm erase all data on the card by clicking Format SD card.

There are also some kind of specialized software that can allows you to clearly check that all data is gone and wipe that all properly. For that you just need to clear the external storage which is the MicroSD Card. Just run the factory settings for instance.

I use a Blackberry phone and it freezes in between. You can reload the OS following combination of keys which is actually called as Soft Reset. You can use the following combination to restore back phone and this also wipe your data completely.

Press Alt + Right Shift (CAP) + Delete. When you hold this for sometime then the mobile will reboot. There is also a double soft reset combination which can ensure much more cleaning of data. This sometimes helps to eliminate problems that have not been able to solve by the usual Soft Reset. For that you there is an bit different procedure.

Press Alt + Right Shift (CAP) + Delete. When phone starts press the same key combination again.

Factory reset is the best option here to wipe your phone data properly. The issue arises there when you some might restore your mobile phone and the same get the data back. Hard reset is an another option and in Nokia Phone Flashing the phone Operating System is a better option to clearly remove all. It is only important if you carry really important data in your phone. There are some tools that can help you to do this.
