| Copy Text from Images
Many times we come across an image or protected webpage containing some text which we had to copy, but we can't. What we have to do is type from it manually. Now with this simple yet powerful software utility named as JOCR, it allows users to copy text from any image files or protected webpage by utilizing OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology so that it can be turned into useful character for further processing. To use JOCR is very easy. All you need to do is download the file and install it. Then just capture the screen which you would like to copy text from, by using JOCR. As soon as you capture a screen, the captured image will be displayed on the utility window and then you can click on “Recognizer” button to copy text from the image you took. JOCR supports following languages - Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Polish and Portuguese. The minimum pre-requisite of JOCR is Microsoft Office 2003 or higher version, and you must have Microsoft Office Document Imaging (MODI) installed in order for it to work correctly. |

JOCR is a standalone exe which can capture desktop, window or any region which you draw. After this it captures the text from the image and stores into clipboard. The only thing you cannot do is point out section of image and copy word from that. But still it will workout for many people who were looking for a free OCR software and as alternative to expensive OCR software available in the market. |

Here's what you can do. Say you find an image on a website that you want to copy the text from. All you do is right-click on the image in Internet Explorer and select Copy. Then go to a page in OneNote and paste the image onto the page. Next, right-click on the image on your OneNote page and select Copy Text From Picture. Now paste the contents of your clipboard to another OneNote page (or into Word or any other application) and the text from your picture will appear. Neat! From my experience though, the OCR capability of OneNote is somewhat limited. |
