How to Record a video on Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

You can record a video using the camera in your phone. To switch from the image mode to video mode, select Options and Video mode.

1. Start recording by pressing the capture key. You can pause the recording at any time by selecting Pause. To resume, select Continue.
2. Stop recording by pressing the capture key.

The video clip is automatically saved in Gallery. The maximum length of a video clip is approximately 30 seconds with sharing quality and 90 minutes with other quality settings.

Manage video quality settings

Depending on where you want to use and view the videos you have captured, you can adjust the video quality settings to match your needs. If you plan on editing your video clips later on, it is always good to shoot the video in the highest quality possible.

1. Select Options > Settings
2. Tap the Video quality setting to choose from:
   
   • TV high quality – Best quality for long term usage and playback on TV, PC or handset.
   • Widscr. high quality – Best quality for playback on handset.
   • E-mail high quality – Best quality for playback on handset. Compatible witih other mobile phones.
   • E-mail normal quality – Standard quality for playback on handset. Compatible with other mobile phones.
   • Sharing quality – Limited video clip size for sending via multimedia message.
3. Tap on the quality you want to film your videos in, and choose Select.

Add sounds, texts and edit video

After you have captured the video, you can edit it in different ways, before you share it or show it to your friends.

To edit the video:

1. Select Options > Edit.
2. Tap on the desired type of editing:
   
   • Merge – You can merge the video with another video clip or image and choose if the item is added to the beginning or to the end of the video clip.
   • Change sound – You can replace the sounds on your video clip by using the music and sound files on your phone.
   • Add text – You can add text to the beginning or to the end of the video clip. In the beginning the text is shown static, and in the end the text rolls from bottom to top, like in movie and TV credits.
   • Cut – Save a piece of the original video clip as a new clip, or save some part of the video as an image.
3. When the action is done, you can choose to Save with new name, which creates a new video clip, or Replace original, and select OK.
   

Notice that if you want to add text to the middle of the video clip or change the sounds in-between, you must first make two separate video clips which you later combine.
